Clay is a real problem if you live underground
a ton of iron, coal, rocks, but no clay(

If you do trader missions, just add an occasional buried stash job and you'll get a bunch.

But yeah clay is everywhere, except possibly desert. (or wasteland? I forget, is there clay soil under that top layer of rubble?)

I actually do kinda miss having to look for clay deposits back in the day, I think it was A18 or A19 that merged it with soil.

Clay is any old dirt you dig from the surface these days
Crater Creator 15 ABR 2023 a las 6:29
Azure is correct. All dirt you harvest is "clay soil". Clay soil produces 100% clay when smelted in a forge. So clay should be the easiest terrain resource to amass.

try a shovel

I usually just find a nearby hill and scrape part of the top off.

A low impact way is to dig out a tunnel under asphalt, like IRL large city sewer drainage. The asphalt won't cave in if it's only 2-3 wide, and will stop the occasional zed attracted by the digging. The tunnels make it easy to go on pillaging runs (in towns, etc) in those boring hours after all your essentials are done. Manholes are totally optional.

Clay is everywhere. It is the soil, the ground. Whenever you dig some trenches, you'll get a lot in forest biomes like.

Nope. The only dirt you will find in those biomes is on some POI.

Ik, guys, I just meant that I am too lazy to go outside from my bunker every time I need clay)0))
I always have tons of iron, rocks, sand, coal etc., but not the clay. Would be cool to be able to find it even in very deep places; just like sand.

Yeah, that's a good way to get some spare clay, you are right.

I usually spend 3/4 of a day inside my mine, grinding metal or coal+saltpetre & rocks/sand.

Buried supplies quest allows me to get some easy dukes and 1-2k clay.

Having clay deep underground would be still great imo

When we want to get a bunch of clay we take a level 1 quest from the nearest trader so ti's close, then dig down the 4 blocks all around the POI as much as can, then reset the POI for the quest so there is no gaping hole in the surface.

Repeat as needed. Certain POIs can have large areas of soil round them that reset.
