But their end goal is You(More specifically the location of the sound they heard), not the base.

what if you are very deep down and somewhat far away from your base underground around bedrock level? will they still go to your base and start blasting?, and by far away i mean your base is not exactly on top of the mine
That said, if a wandering horde DOES spawn near your base, it's entirely possible for them to get hung up blocks or terrain, and opt to go -through- it if it's easier than going around, but that is a mechanic of their AI thought processing and not limited to the building design or purpose.
If your mine is far enough away, horizontally, from your base, then the zombies won’t come through your base to get to you in your mine. Now, how far is far enough? I don’t know. If you want to be sure, tunnel so far away that your base is no longer loaded (e.g. it disappears from view or reverts to its stock POI appearance).
