Turret use strategies
I'm sure this has been discussed before but searching is returning too many results to be useful.

Since only one turret at a time will operate (until you unlock the perk allowing 2 at a time) I'm looking for suggestions for making the best use of my turrets on horde night.

I have a variety of turrets I'd like to be using but the one-at-a-time thing makes coming up with a viable strategy difficult.

Is it possible to make use of multiple turrets by designing a horde base that allows you to move and activate them in sequence as needed?

Or should I just pick 2 or 3 of my best turrets and rely on them?

Do you need Robotics Expert for the SMG and Shotgun turrets too?

I figured that only applied to the Junk Turret and Sledge.. kinda lame if it messes with all of them.

smg turret and shotgun turret arent affected by the limit, they just need power and ammo, as for strategy, i like using an open hallway carpeted with wire traps, they slow zombies nicely for the turrets to chew throught them, choke mods and ammo drums are the most useful guns mods for the robotic turrets.

Awesome, thanks for confirming that (I couldn't find a direct answer on any 7 days websites)

Assuming you're talking about the robotic turrets (also known as junk turrets) and not smg/shotgun turrets. They're still useful on horde night, but a lot depends on your setup.

For example if your defensive position has you on an elevated platform shooting down at zombies, you could put a turret at each corner and then wherever you're fighting there would be one nearby to lay suppressing fire.

Or if your setup relies on channeling zombies along a path, you may want an autosledge set up at one or more strategic locations to push zombies off ramps or walkways.

You can still use two in a way where it allows one turret to start shooting when the other runs out of ammo.

You could absolutely set up one every few feet and, as you move behind or near them, each one will activate... the one closest to you. If you have 5 turrets sitting about doing nothing, and you utilize a corridor of some type, moving back and forth, YES, whichever one you are nearest will be shooting or bonking zombies. Once you have that final perk, the 2 nearest you will be working.

Have fun! and show us your base design once you're done.

A couple small but nice to know details -

1) SMG and Shotgun turrets count as Electric Traps, so they won't give you exp for their kills unless you've invested heavily into Advanced Engineering.

2) Robotic Turrets deactivate when their ammo or durability run out. Even if you haven't invested in Robotics, feel free to place several of these turrets close to you, and when the closest exhausts itself it'll go to sleep and let the next closest take over.

I've been using Sledge Turrets to shove zombies off a ramp that I'm holding out on. The zombies fall off and run back to the base of the ramp to run back up.

Thanks for all the help - another question:

Will zambies attack SMG/Shotgun turrets?

Or can I place them off by themselves (out of my sight) and they'll be okay?

They'll only attack them if their in the way of where they're trying to get.
