Game looks better but overall gameplay is shieza.
What would be amazing is if there were actual zombie hordes like the old days, you know like a night out with the hogs.
Nowadays on current version it's still kind of like that but you're doing a lot more trader quests and gathering skill magazines instead of building your perks toward anything. Crafting anything useful comes so lategame that you find the stuff you want before you can ever craft it.
Basically for the uniqueness of being a voxel game with destructible environment and the freedom in building.
It was the time when I was much into zombie survival games and it seemed to fit and was quite fun.
Played quite a lot seriously until A20 and from then on only playing around with the building in creative mode, trying horde bases or creating huge homesteads.
Not a fan of a bunch of the new game mechanics, so I don't see me doing a serious playthrough in vanilla anytime soon. Maybe with one of the overhaul mods at some point.
2. Also really like how easy it is to get into the game without much of a learning curve, and just play until things are familiar to me.
3. The bugs rarely bother me, because they're mostly aesthetic bugs and a few optimisation-related things. So that's a big bonus for me too.
4. It's a game I will play for a month, then put down for a few, wash repeat. It's also a lot of fun playing with my wife. She wields a knife, shotgun, and bow, as well as equip light or medium gear. I wield a sledgehammer, 9mm, and rifle. I also equip medium or heavy gear. We enjoy using the War of the Walkers mod the most. Perhaps we're a bit biased because of the Canadian content. ^_^
But i finally get the grip on it, felt amazing to explore this massive number of Pois, building, farming plants and founding stuff and books, was really addictive.
Then i discovered you can easily tweak and mod the whole game as you like (changing every ennemy xp, life, every values or items, loot drops, even make recipes or change textures of block to fits the way you like playing or adjusting the game, and this definitly sold me).
Also the modding community, like minecraft, is what makes the game very worthy for me, there is not much visual mods but, gameplay mods or big overalls like the massive "Undead Legacy" mod i can't wait to be updated for exp-1 is what keeps me doing a new game every 6-12 months ^^
(for the guy wanting zombies hordes, there is mods for that, look at "KhaineGB" "wanderinghordefrequency", you can setup hordes of whetever number you want, every random X hours also as you want, with randomness, works perfectly on exp-1)
Now the other aspects you mentioned did spark my interest - I guess the visuals are just a thing to get used to
Basically it's a Sandbox with Base building, Looting and a Tower Defense that you can toggle.
The base game has its ups and downs over the years, changes one will like, changes one won't, etc.
To be more descriptive re: a direct answer to the topic question - I like building, exploring, and starting over and over. Don't care about "endgame" or tower defense.
