Player movement still feels dated...
I have owned 7D2D for a few years now and have noticed the movement really seems rather dated (old). I kinda wish they would update the movement animations and I would guess make it feel more fluid. It is rather hard to tell in comparison to the older versions but I am not the only one who feels like it could use a few changes

Honestly, now that you mention, it does feel like the movement is rather lacking. Your right in that the movement needs for fluidity to it, cause at the moment it feels a bit stiff almost as if your not controlling a human.

you mean it feels like you're playing a 2000 era shooter, sure

Much prefer that, I don't wanna have to pre-empt when I need to stop my movement (like gta 5 , that's so friggin bad fml XD), I don't wanna be able to run on walls or wierd parcour we already can use a skill for that and it's more than enough! the poor zombies can't even keep up when you have it!
Since the next alpha will feature all new player characters, it’s meant a lot of work on player animation too. I don’t know what proportion overall will be redone, but TFP have put out some videos showing players in motion with the new armor sets.

I seem to recall back in a16 or a17 that they said they were kind of holding off on this until they have the 3rd-person view fixed up because it didn't make sense to work on it before then.

Its mostly because of how dated it is. This is a 2010 game made by inexperienced devs (at the time) so it's easy to understand thats how things are. The issue is after 10 years you have to kind of do a ground up rebuild to fix all the stuff you didn't know or understand at the start and not everyone is willing to put that time in. I'm not even sure they've updated their unity build engine to anything recent since there were a few hugely breaking version changes in unity. In all reality, their only good option is a bottom up rebuild (will stall updates until done) or a slow periodic one (will take more effort and time). Basically they just need to full on rebuild for a year before someone comes out with something very similar with a modern system. If someone drops 7 days to survive with a modern engine, this thing is dead in the water.

If it was 3rd person, then I probably wouldn't play it.

Haven't noticed anything, I prefer older graphics to new ones, cause realism makes all games equal, as if you only play the same game every day in your life.

My everyday life feels like the same game, yet, I haven't encountered any dragons, or Elven maidens. Only zombies all around =(((

7dtd is the most realistic game ever made. I visit traders, then do some boring, repeatable quests to get some meh rewards with a humiliating comment on top. =(((

Even if i get to TOP tiers, I still get a commentary about how wealth is less than personality.
Most tech is considered obsolete after 3 years at the current level of advancement. This game is 10 years old so any part of it that hasn't been updated in the last 3 years is technically 'dated'.

You and everyone else doesn't gets the message: the engine is too old and to move it to another lvl requires too much effort and time. So, maybe next lvl will be like 7dtd 2, yet This one is doomed to stay on this ground. Glad, if I'm wrong.

You are wrong. The engine gets updated with just about every new Alpha. Currently Alpha 22 is being developed on Unity 2022
