As ive said before, it smacks of mid life crisis from the Devs, wanting to be 'down with the kids' and instead gutting some of the deeper gameplay so 11 year olds might look at the game for 20 seconds.
A lot of stuff I miss that has been removed, but I am used to it at this point, but some cool stuff has been added too, at least there are more types of armour now, just less slots, but some stuff will be missed again, cigars and glasses and a few other things.
It's natural to look at 1.0 through A21 eyes, but players will adjust as they always have. For instance, no one talks about "Wellness" anymore, because that's no longer a stat in the game's design. I think combining clothing and armor into one system in the first place will be the bigger adjustment, more than changing from 5 armor slots to 4.
I wouldn't attribute this change to a "dumbing down". It was not intellectually difficult or deep gameplay for players to manage a shirt slot separate from a pants slot. The biggest reason I've discerned for combining some slots was to eliminate a lot of clipping headaches, where one article of clothing stuck through another. Or even if they wouldn't clip, the clothing had to be unnaturally stiff or plastered down so it wouldn't clip into something else. There's been a lot of work put into cloth and tools and other doodads on these characters that shift more believably as they move.
If you watched the dev stream yesterday, you heard Madmole say that the various perks/stat buffs from different clothing are preserved one way or another. There is no reason to think they just threw this stuff in and now players will be weaker because they forgot to rebalance it. Of course they're rebalancing it.
but in reality its plain dumb. Its been a thing in the game for over 10 years, and now people will just view this as TFP taking more stuff away and dumbing down the game.
Youre taking more and more out of the game, and giving nothing back, and people hate it.
I have over 10 times as much time in the game as you do, save the talking down garbage.
My friends and I HAVE played the new system. IT SUCKS. Our group of 5 quit after 2 in game weeks.
The new system is horrible, and fair money would be on the bet the 1.0 system is going to be even worse.
if you're running around nude from the dangle down, you need to read "needle and thread" and then combine ingredients to make some pants..
press B when ingame to see your character screen, and loot more clothes from washer/dryers in houses..
This is incorrect. Absolutely incorrect. This game was originally meant to be an advanced zombie survival game that superseded all others. Some where along the way TFP decided to change things up. It happens. So what we ultimately got was a watered down RPG with survival game elements. That's the stone cold reality of it.
A lot of the underlined issues with the game back then are still present in the game today even with all of the reworks done on it. Dumbing the game down definitely does nothing to justify the up coming price tag they plan on hitting it with. They focused on the wrong stuff and got lazy on the things they needed to focus on.
Removing features and things is just pure lazy development. That's less for them to work on at the end of the day. I would have been more impressed if they had added an outfits box on top of what already existed.
What I see them doing is adding and caking the game up with spit polish and shine and hoping people don't notice the big turd in the room. Don't misunderstand me. It's still an excellent game. Just as a survival game it's a big turd now. As an RPG with survival game elements it's working as intended mate. lol
we know for a fact the market is in MOBILE... so no surprises game companies rather spend their resources in actual profitable markets via mobile and console... pc gamers just mod everything anyways lmao, "they create their own games"
shame tho they have to dumb everything down, because pc gamers made them, the same way pc gamers made blizzard entertainment... we're second class citizens and people need a reality check
Awww...I wanted to run around with my dingle dangle out. This is horrible news.
What is up with everyones hard-on for blaming everything on streamers. Streamers typically want dumb "complex" things so they can lord over everyone that they know everything about the game. If it's "dumbed down" than it would be a boring stream game because everyone would then play the exact same way.
Complaining about a game that has been in dev for 13 years and blaming streamers screams more mid-life crisis than anything else here lol

simplified game mechanics for 7 Days that result in less player options are not going to be popular. The entire RPG / Survival genre (beginning with D&D 1974) trend is for more player options.
There were (and are) always players who defend and prefer the much more restrictive forms of D&D - one earlier variant called BECMI didn't even give elves and dwarves a class option ("race" was class). Similar things were said - it was "dumbed down for kids". But kids didn't like it either.
11-year old gamers want more customization options just like 40-year olds, not less. The result of less customization options is always less players of all ages.
I think the reason the Devs gave was honest - they can't figure out how to mitigate the clipping issues, so that's why they're dropping the options. At least they are admitting they don't know how to fix the problem at hand, and this is their solution for it.
