Random is more, well, random. There are some prefabs you won't find in Navezgane, and there will also be more larger town areas but you may have to deal with weird/difficult terrain and roads to nowhere and such.
I greatly prefer random but the game may be easier to learn with Nav.
It takes several minutes to generate a random map, though, so be aware of that. Considering this, you might want to start on Navezgane.
EDIT...Well, I see you are apparently in game now, so let us know what you decided.
Navezgane in the other hand all the buildings and traders have a logical location, and the world is way more interesting as well.
But if you really want to play on a RWG map make sure to use nitrogen with a list of prefabs to make the world less repetitive.
I tried a couple of saves in Navezgane but eventually switched to a procgen map and I'm still playing that save.
