Please add an "Empty Hands" button
Because plants can no longer be harvested by interaction since A18, it would be really nice to have a button that just makes you put away whatever you currently hold, so you can punch plants without having to keep a free slot in the already too small hotbar.

Empyrion for example has reserved the 10th slot for that, leaving the player with 9 for using and Space Engineers even did it better by giving them 10 slots AND having a button for empty hands.

That sounds like a great idea! What I normally do is get my bone knife/knife out for harvesting things instead of getting my hands out, I find the hitbox makes the most sense to me with something like a knife.

Although I agree, as a tip, a knife is as fast as your fists, and a stone axe isn't that much slower now a days.
So having either of those on your hotbar, helps switching over to. As opposed to clearing a slot .

Yup, it's pretty much why I always have a knife in my toolbar, such a useful tool!

Here's hoping, they did add those inventory buttons as well!

The quick stack ones? They did, no more need for the mod for those.

Keep in mind if you are using a tool, it will degrade. Bare hands is best.

If you've a long line of Corn, Super Corn, or Yucca to harvest, then I recommend using the Auger aimed fairly high. It's nice to be able to sprint down a row and get it done quickly. I find the knife is faster than bare hands, but I guess that's just me. Nothing wrong with using hands.

Never thought about using the Augur! Should be fun!

Man, I feel like the 8 slots as "toolbelt" is very small but also just enough space for 3 weapons, 2/3 tools and 2 heals.
I get what you are saying but l'd feel like a "holster" button would help where you deselect your entire toolbar and free your hand.
Same thing as adding an empty no.9 slot, but when you hit "holster" again it brings you back to your item you holstered.

Yea a holster button would be the way to go.
ARK uses Q, The long dark uses H.

Aside from harvesting animal kills i find the shiv or knife very useful for harvesting gore piles, corpses, plants, breaking mirrors and pictures.
Bones and repair kits are so simple, using durability is not an issue.

Before driving i equip the knife then use it to kill vultures when they harass you, hop out and move backwards then when they get in your face stab them quickly a few times with LMB, i rarely get hit.

I only recommend this if you don't need the resources from their corpses cus boy do they fly.

I find that vultures are one of the few weaknesses of the sledgehammer. The wind-up time is so long, it makes timing your swing with the vulture's dive attack tricky. You can do it, but a faster weapon is better. Plus vultures are weak, so you don't need that much damage output anyway. Once you have a gun, it's worth spending a bullet to take out a vulture in my opinion.
