You have to like building stuff to fully appreciate it though, especialy for endgame.
Has an old gamer, l am completely amazed by the creatives possibilities of games like 7days, Space engineers, Eco, satisfactory .... all very differents but still....
Anyway, l must admit, always had a special crush for 7days! Maybe because of the Fat Mama ! ;)
All I can say is : it's one of the 5 best games in my own library, and the only one about zombies and crafting.
So the slash is wrong.
QED
You can’t craft zombies until they release the voodoo expansion. 😉
A lot of people like to compare it to zomboid but I think the perspective and style of the game are important when comparing; To me this game is closer to minecraft than zomboid. And 7D minecrafts better than Minecraft minecrafts. And it zombies better than zomboid zombies.
So yeah it'll be unbeatable for some time to come IMO.
The zombies are a lot better in zomboid than 7 days because you can customize them to your liking and preferred zombie lore and they have updated the animations and AI a whole lot more recently. I 100% agree that comparing them is hard due to the FPS vs ISO/realistic thing but in overall immersion zomboid hands down is better and has more features. But for building and chilling with friends 7 days is where it is at it and is why i have hundreds/thousand+ hours in both games. The thing with comparing zombies between the games too is there is mutated zombies in 7 days vs just normal zombies in zomboid. An area that 7 days is winning is having animals though but with build 42 of zomboid around the corner that will be better in that as well as there will be animal keeping etc as well as hunting.
In my opinion zomboid edges out 7 days just because of features as far as overall zombie/crafting type game as 7 days has started lagging behind them in development as both games have been in process a long time which is fine as they're both small indie teams.
One thing I would like to say though and I think pretty much anyone who loves these types of games can agree with, I am VERY happy both exist because you can get all the different itches scratched between them.
But the whole top down/iso view makes the game less similar to 7D than everyone makes it out to be. 7D is a first person game, quite immersive. Even 3ps game can be quite immersive. But a top down iso view... I cant really compare anything in that game to 7D as a result honestly. It just feels like a totally different experience to me. I understand that this is just an opinion, totally subjective, but it really doesnt even compare for me. Even when the mechanics, looting, etc are all quite similar.
My best friend has the same issue with the ISO thing, to me its all the same but thats why I said I am glad both games exist too because they are different enough that you can't completely compare them, they are on the same highway but in different lanes with different destinations.
