like it actually looks like a 2013 game instead of a 2023 game, just wondering if the graphics will be updated to be better looking.
idc that much its just its in early access and most devs make the game look prettyer the older it gets.
To be honest if graphics are the only thing that is holding you back from the purchase, it's unlikely to change too much unless they do a complete texture pass on the terrain, characters etc...
Personally, I'm really looking forward to the water enhancement.
There is too much content to simply 'update the graphics' in one fell swoop.
It's easy to just play the game and have a vague sense that the graphics are outdated. However if you look at what's there with a critical eye, you should notice a hodge podge. There are a lot of assets, like the traders and weapons, that were updated pretty recently, and arguably hold up well.
Then there are other assets, like the player character, and the water simulation, that haven't been touched in many years. There's a reason for this. The game is still being developed, and only a certain number of features are on the agenda for an update each alpha.
The devs should not be updating the graphics over and over again because something reached a time limit and is now 'too old'. Rather, they should replace placeholder assets with final assets that fulfill their vision for the finished game. That's what I was getting at when I said anything from Alpha 1 should be updated.
Regarding the above examples, we know from the current dev diary that the water simulation is getting an overhaul in the next alpha. We can deduce that an upcoming update to armor will mean major changes to player character appearance.
Some things, like the number and resolution of paintable textures, will likely remain subject to technical limitations. But wherever possible, we can expect all of the graphics (as broad as that term is) to be brought up to the same standard throughout the game.

It will never look like UE game.
They are adding better models/textures/assets etc. but don't expect full overhaul to modern graphics.
Tbh - screw graphics, it's ok - long awaited new player models will be added in A21 + better water.
But Jesus those animations ;(
Well, maybe not everyone have so much free time as you do. But yeah, calling others 'lazy' is just easier.
Also why new player should even care about 10 years of early access? Game looks crappy/junky - that's it. Doesn't matter what kind of improvement have been made since first release. It's rated as it is now.
they rather should start adressing the bugs and eventually start following a common thread for the future development instead of overhauling it each update.
Also don't expect too much from voxel graphics.
