At least before I could remove it with mods, but apparently it's not possible now because the sounds are baked in? However, I say this last point with a massive teaspoonful of salt - as well as with a question mark so anyone with more modding expertise can tell me - because all the comments on the older mods by other people on the Nexus modding site reported it as such - including a mod author.
An option to disable these via the main-menu would be super-duper appreciated! It's much more immersive anyway to have the sounds off and get jumpy and spooked by a curtain falling because you broke the topmost piece for one more piece of cloth for that padded-armor, the three bottom pieces vanishing from existence with that nasty sound effect of cotton snapping and tearing on the floor at 1AM in a cold house, than to have it be playing and yawn when a wolf attacks you right before morning out in the pitch-black woods. Just me?
Maybe just me...
It was a sarcastic post. I get you didn't pick up on it. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for brains?
when you are mining 1 block from the hard floor limit in the game base.
Keep the scary creepy ambient noise.
Off Topic, make night time Dark !!
THis is grandmas game now
--They are too loud/close , implying something is happening nearby (which is extremely rarely the case) and thus are immersion breaking not immersion creating.
--They go off at random points in time...without any consideration of the environment.
At the very least replace them with "far away" sounds...as it stands the only thing they achieve is getting the player to disable ambience sounds alltogether.
If only that actually worked but the option does nothing and its worse when you get one sound after the other all night long..
Its like they can not even let 60 seconds go by at times without playing the same damn sounds... feel like my latest base needs to be moved because its triggering the sounds non stop.
Still... expectations for this game are going down each update.. Hell rocks now are even simpler.... like come on..
How old is "old"? As a rule of thumb, a thread is too old if it was started during a previous alpha. Past that, the thread should be considered 'dead' and not replied to.
This doesn't mean users can never discuss the subject again! If you have something to add, you can start a new thread. You can even link to one or more previous threads on the topic. Making a new thread when there's already an active one on the same subject is another concern, but this does not apply when the other topic is old as defined above.
Because there was some flaming in this thread that was never otherwise addressed, we'll keep it closed.
