Does anyone else find max level Parkour to be TOO parkour-ish?
I've been playing with Parkour at max level for a while, and noticed a few odd things that seem to happen.

There doesn't seem to be a way to NOT jump your max height. Lightly tapping the space bar has my head hitting the ceiling, and me missing jumps. The only way I've been kinda able to mitigate this is by looking straight down when I go to jump into a windowsill or other opening without tons of head clearance above it.

When my head hits the ceiling, other things happen as well. When I land, it's as if the floor or whatever block I land on is 'slippery'; my character skids a bit without my input, and only stops when I press something to stop it.

I have slid completely off a block I had landed on due to this and not reacting to it, so it feels kinda important. Imagine climbing a tower and making a jump, then pausing to consider your next move and sliding out a window. or worse, bonking your head on the top of the sill and then, despite having made the jump, sliding off the block you had landed on.

I only get level 2 parkour but have no trouble with missing jumps. The way I play, I want the max jump height just about all of the time.

It is annoying sometimes, specially the higher crouch jump height. But its usually well worth it. Just no more broken legs alone. Park has saved me plenty of times and let me make different bases, such as ones that take jumping blocks to enter them.

I'd argue that post NERF healing factor is my biggest "I reget taking this" skill for me in the entire game. Because it makes the barely bearable hunger drain, hair pulling bad.

I have the SAME problems with parkour maxed!, You are Not alone lol =)

It's been brought up by other people before, yes. I agree. I leave parkour at 2m jump for this reason.

I max out the parkour perk, but with the agility goggles. So if there is some situation where I want that bit extra I put the goggles on but normally leave them offf.

It's a bit hilarious, yeah, but the game doesn't exactly take itself seriously so it's not like it's a problem.

Also it's pretty funny jumping off skyscrapers with max parkour, the falling damage boot mod, and the 5000 coin book mod.

It would be nice if a split-second tap of the SpaceBar would result in a much shorter jump compared to a short-press and long-press.
I think the game's jumping currently gives basically "0" F's about how long you hold the jump button.

I'm not asking for analogue control levels, just the normal pressNhold jump differences like a lot of platforming games have.

EDIT: as it currently is, I purposely avoid taking more than 1-2points into parkour because of the unwieldy jump-height control.

When I play with extra points into Parkour, I try not to read that book that lets you jump good while crouched. Extra points in Parkour improve your jump height while crouched, so when Parkour is maxed you jump 1m while crouched (perfect for getting into an open window from an outside ledge). It would be awesome if you could "turn off" the effect of a single read book.

I didn't know there was a book to increase crouched jump-height...Thought it was just for not making noise while jumping.

That’s clever! Good idea.

Sadly it doesn't work as well if Run&Gun and FlurryofBlows are important...which they often are at higher difficulties.
EDIT: nevermind, it sounds like maxed Parkour happens farther out than Flurry+R&G, so goggles on/off won't mess with those combat perks after all.

Except you can max out Run & Gun and Flurry (and light armor) at Agility 7. Parkour takes level 8.

It is true that you can't max out the combat perks for archery, gunslinger and deep cuts, or the stealth perks but all those are 4/5 at agility 7 (they all need agility 10). Personally I don't see a lot of difference on those between 4 and 5, but I do notice a benefit of maxed athletic perks.

So, I put in points to agility 7 and then keep a pair of goggles.

Oh nice!
For some reason I had it reversed in my mind...I thought R&G and Flurry needed 8points while Parkour maxed at 7.
One of those times where I'm happy to be wrong.

I had the same thought, it really should be based on how long the space bar is held down, I know other games that do it that way, so it's totally possible.

I love max parkour. Makes me feel like Post-apocalyptic Super Mario.
