Premade or Random Map - Best Solo Experience?
Coming back to 7DTD after many years, I'm asking myself what's the best choice of map for a solo game?

the 10k map is decent, you find 2 Jens, 2 Hughs aned a rekt near your start. I made my base at the East west road between the jens and the other 3 Trader in the east

Random with the Improved RWG mod if you like lots of large cities.

What's this 'improved RWG mod' you speak of? Or, is that what it's actually named? Can you add a link for it?

Thank you for your replies.

Be aware that the pregen maps are not special. They are generated using exactly the same algorithm used to make random maps. They exist largely for the convenience of not having to wait for a random map to generate locally.

Appreciated, thank you.

And the player generated maps are simply player dictates not so much poi, but terrain? I only have made a bare few generated maps, even after all these years. Every time I go, " hmmm, I wonder what this key does", I have to call Geek Squad, lams. So I don`t do files, xmls, and all that stuff you kids did in grade school hehe.

The pregens have the benefit that if you have a question at least some people here know the maps

The new random generator allows sliders for biomes. Change for your gameplay or to do a certain type of play through. Change mountains, hill, all kinds of terrain. Or just adjust one or two things or non at all. A random gen map allows you to not know where everything is so puts back the excitement you loose once you know the pregens. I hate the wastelands so I give up the higher loot in favor of not getting a headache from the background noise of that biome. Just remember if you eliminate the forest no trader will show after your beginner quests. It just tells you to go to trader without pointing to one. Eliminate the desert no shale. Eliminate the snow no living meat locker with added loot bonus. Although they claim there is a slight loot bonus in desert I did not notice it. Could be my bad luck. lol. Change nothing change everything, you do you and have fun.

I play solo on multiplayer servers. They seem to run better and have nice mods.

How do you play solo on mp servers?

You just play alone (99% of the time)

The Pregen maps are all pretty decent. The Devs picked them precisely because they were well balanced maps, terrain and POI wise. My only complaint with them is that I got to know them too well and so have resorted to generating my own worlds again so I am not tempted to beeline for the most advantageous spots.
