In my single party, I always play with a20.0b238 & not problem, in server with last version, in coop with a20.4
All save from old version a20 can be load with the last version...
& you can wait +3 years minimum to be in version release & there's already a very long thread about "final" version & so, just go read it...
Let them put in all the features and new mechanics they want even if it takes another 10 years. Who cares.
Your playing an EA game, you were told that b4 you purchased.
This game is a lot longer in EA buit any EA game is going to change constantly and have to wipe.
Noone expects you to be an expert on game development but at least know what EA means please.
Yeah, this is about right. You have to understand what you're buying when you buy early access games. Unfinished products that may never be finished. There's always a disclaimer of some kind on the main page, and you should read up on exactly what early access is if you don't know or don't understand. Dies Fourth pretty much spelled it out already but it never hurts to learn more.
the hosting company? they don't usually do auto updates for servers unless you select to update.
also updates in the same alpha versions should not be wiping your server
even if you update from A 19 to A20 your server is not wiped the data is still there and often times when you update the game gives you a warning this is from a previous alpha build and not compatibly with the next alpha.
also the last alpha update 19 to 20 was last year around oct IIRC
The alternative to paying for a server is to run your own dedicated server or just host your own game on your PC and have your mother join in. Won't cost you a dime and you can wipe, or not, as you please. If it's just the two of you playing I assume you play together anyway and don't really need a server unless you each play individually.

that's very nice thank you :) I will look into setting that up
If you are hosting it yourself just roll back to the last version.
also again ill say any updates within the same alpha 20, 20.1 20.2 and more have a very rare if any chance to break your world.
the only game breaking updates would have happened last year from alpha 19 to alpha 20.
you can disable auto updates in your steam settings for this game so no need to worry when patches come out, and update when you are ready by selecting the next version.
If it's just the 2 of you, LAN or online wouldn't matter, I'd look into the server client and look for a 2nd hand el-cheapo i5 with 16gb of ram and setup your own dedi, that way you can backup your maps much more readily too. Could be over kill if you never find another use for the system when ya's stop playing though.
Has worked a treat for myself and my group of friends, said system is used to host, 7dtd, minecraft java with mods, valheim and more. only 4 of us playing so net seems to cope just fine and I can leave things like minecraft up 24/7 without an issue.
Since there are only two of you, you may be a good candidate for hosting the game yourself. But if a paid private server is convenient for you, you can browse and ask around in the Servers sub-forum here for a server provider that hopefully won’t force updates on you.
You know who else likes to play 7 Days To Die?
My mom!
(Regular show reference)
Or are you talking about the new way of doing Early Access which has only been a thing for about 10 years?
Agreed about how EA works but you have to keep in mind that this is one of the longest running EA games in existence. Coincidentally Project Zomboid is in the same boat, but that doesn't mean it's at all typical for a game to be in EA for a decade or longer. It's actually impossible to be in EA any longer because EA didn't exist before 2013. Just because it's technically compliant because it says "may or may not be finished" doesn't mean people should expect their babies to turn 18 before a game they bought in 2013 is finally "complete".
I'm usually 100% on the side of the devs in these conversations but even I am getting pretty tired of waiting while they remove and remake features for the tenth time. They've really made at least three entirely different zombie games at this point and scrapped two of them. Before long technology will advance to a point that it would make more sense to make a brand new product than it would to retrofit this dinosaur with new features and graphics.
I've still had a ton of fun with it and certainly gotten my money's worth, it's just a shame that by the time TFP calls it finished I will have absolutely zero interest in playing it anymore.
