Also the fix would have went in regardless. Whether you downloaded it now, or later in the week with 20.4.
You can go to the betas tab and set it to Alpha 20.2 if you really want, and then you won't download anything even if the rest of us move on to Alpha 20.3, Alpha 20.4, etc. So you're entitled to your opinion, but to say you have no option is wrong.
Who on a bandwidth choke chain chooses to buy into development titles that are constantly throwing downloads at you?
Think McFly, think...
Unless you have internet and a hard drive from 90's I seriously do no see how this is a problem
i know you chose your words carefully. BUT heres the thing, you talk about alpha this and alpha that, im talking about the fact, people are sick of having these 3rd party site bs shoved in our faces like with this game now twitch stuff, war frame does it with amazon prime, you get a npc email saying free stuff, BUT when you click on it , you are brought to amazon primes page and asked to sign up. other games are slowly adopting this shameless business practice and many are sick of it.
i got this game to kill zombies build bases have fun with friends, i paid for 7 days to die, not lame shill from a company i refuse to endorse.
If that was the case I'd agree with you, but this is not what's happening in this game.
That kind of has me wondering since I only do single player. It's kind of why I switched off Windows to Linux with the "always on" installs and such for Windows 11 and their push to Microsoft accounts. I really hope that the Twitch events part doesn't tie the single player aspect of this game to an online requirement with Twitch. That would be a dumb idea.
I am sure some security guy says we need updates cause of security is just fooling us. Even with the security patch, security needle is really at the same place. That industry is peddling fear with perfectionist thinking.
Steam at least tries and push updates overnight, which is common. I just can't believe this is so crucial. Slow down the updates. Group them up.
Steam > Settings > Automatically Update Game files > No. That's not the exact path but close enough. Problem solved and have a good day.
There is ALOT of people who do give a duce about twitch. You can´t ignore that as a game developer.
Also i would assume someone having a monthly cap would turn off automatic updates anyways. I would if i had limited data.
