2. Farm witches. Don't use XP boost.
3. Modify blocks.xml to give more resources from mining. this has the side effect of giving a ton more xp. I only doubled the output, cause I hate mining forever.
4. Double POI by taking quest, going to POI doing POI, then accept quest. Break down everything electrical/mechanical. Use candy.
5. Multiplayer to share XP, change radius to like 2-3K
6. Find a place with large electronics panels so you can wrench like 80 blocks. Sell electrical parts to trader.
7. When looting make sure you are grabbing cobblestone blue bags/Cement bags and every time you return back to base, you that on your base, upgrading base is great xp. Use nerd glasses when upgrading base.
WARNING- level up too fast will make the game very hard. Especially in Darkness Falls. If your loot doesn't stay proportional, you will be low on ammo, weak weapons, and POI will be harder and 7 day much harder.
I usually dig a moat around my base that earns if you placed your base near ore. I spend an hour each morning from 3:00 to 4:00 doing this. Get it down to like 16 blocks and you have a ton of resources to upgrade. When I play multiplayer the other guys are looting and I do this, and I am always a higher level than they are. They share the XP to you, and you do not share your XP to them for upgrading base. So an easy way to accelerate versus them. We do PVP tournaments where we assign points for kills, zombie kills, and levels. I always crush everyone on levels. Learning what items are worth breaking down is also important. The Fun Pimps have some work on items/blocks to balance, but I fixed all my items by modifying the dropped resource to balance it out more. For example a stack of firewood doesn't give much wood (are you kidding me, it is already pre cut)
I'm kicking myself I didn't farm up cobblestones because I'm on Day 6 and wanted to spend it building a little fort and harvesting exp from upgrading the blocks as much as I can. Guess I'll dig up the clay from forest floor and stuff.
It seems to be somewhat rare and even though you can eat it from the can, it's one of the ingredients for the Granpa's Learnin' Elixer.
Of course, the acid is arguably more rare, but you would not be tempted to eat that anyway. Save the dog food and then when you get the recipe for the Elixer, gaining XP in this game will be gravy.
One note though is when people say mining for XP, they mean iron, lead, coal and nitrate. Mining stone is not where the good XP is.
(** Screamers are low in health and don't summon until they have LOS on you. A ring of plain wood or iron spikes around your mine entrance kills screamers well before they see you down there. Or other things, like just put a cobblestone block in your mine entrance to prevent the screamer (or anything else) from dropping in with you or from seeing you.
I agree. I modded my game to add a cat food based recipe for the learnin elixer too. So I can use either one. And I horde them from day 1 by buying them from vending machines at all my traders and quests.
I don't play on any bonus XP setting so making the learning recipe easier to craft seemed fair.
Of course now that I know to hoard dog food I'm not finding it anywhere lol.
It's actually under Master Chef, along with other Granpa's recipes. And you make it at a campfire.
It's actually one of the benefits of Iron Gut that most seem to overlook or not mention. While you don't "need" the extra duration, looting those level 5 POIs while under Eye Kandy and/or other buff consumables can really make a difference in how much more time you get.
It also works with the book (forget which one) that gives 10% bonus to ore damage when mining if buzzed from coffee....because the buff from the coffee lasts longer.
Longer buff from coffee means more XP. Add in the Nerdy Glasses, and XP is not an issue at all, at least once you find the recipe for the Elixer that is.
Got it for 2000 Dukes.
So you can get in from master chef, but you can also find the recipe in loot, too.
Example;
https://youtu.be/TD9ibsEv0bU
but i swapped out to the glasses for slightly better loot, before opening special loot containers :)
what if there was a mod which added a recipe:
- merge 2 Nerdy Glasses with 2 of the Looter bonus glasses
= Nerdy Looter Glasses (which gives the best of both) :) (or + half of each) :)
when i was playing diablo games, i would always swap all my items for "Magic Find" bonuses, before opening every special treasure chest lol :)
