That would work for me.
That's a good idea.
The reason I've read for why we have zombies in cupboards and false ceilings is that's where people hid before they turned. When zombies respawn, they're back in those now broken cupboards or ceilings. That's just silly. If it was just a few zombies respawning, and the ones that you find lying on the floor, then that would make sense, and be like zombies moving back into the house.
There's a huge hexagonal compo pack POI on my current map, don't know what it's called. There was an airdrop on the roof a few days ago and I tried climbing up the outside to get it. This triggered a large horde of zombies, dogs and vultures to come pouring out after me. I barely survived. Of course I went right back. And triggered a second horde. I limped home with a broken leg, sprained arm, infection, concussion, abrasion and only a few HP. I won't get back there for at least a few days and to know they'll all be there again waiting for me is annoying, and completely unrealistic. That's what prompted this topic.
I call that POI 'The Pentagon'. Its roof is crazy fun. However, if you're not prepared for the hoard of crazy that WILL inundate you when you breach that height, you'll get terribly messed up. It's a bit easier if you go from INSIDE.. after you've cleared it all out. One staircase they all must come down, and you can direct them the way you wish.
As for the zombie respawns... I would LOVE if they tied it to the loot respawn. As it is now, I put a wooden frame outside all the buildings I have looted since I have it on no loot respawn for solo play. I just don't go back into those POIs. Doesn't help the Airdrop thingy, though. My condolences...
The route the game is going, an RPG/Dungeoun and Dragons type of sandbox survival i think these game changing options being included would help push the game into more replayability and fun and would only help :D
Why? I must be missing something.
What advantage would there be to tying these together rather than two separate settings?
I play with loot respawn off.
I don't want to turn off zombie respawning.
Personally I would be fine with tying them together. I can't think of any situation where I'd want one on and one off. However, I'm not the only player and options are good. I suppose an advantage would be only one more option in the menu instead of two.
In my ideal game, I'd like more wandering zombies. And I'd like some of those zombies to find their way into houses. So, even if you've totally cleared a building, you might get a surprise if you visit later. But a total reset of the zombie count I don't like. I don't know if this is possible though.
That is, when the "average" player might be thinking "loot timer is up, time to go scavenge those POI's again!" - it would ensure they'd have to fight the z's again to get the reward so to speak.
That said, if one doesn't want loot to respawn at all but still want zombies, or if you have loot respawn set for max length (vs totally off or only a few/several days) then POI zombies would also take a really long to show up again etc. So yeah, imo you'd need more options than just tying POI respawn to loot respawn timer.
They should remain separate options, imo.
