Is farming worth it?
I see with full farming skill perks unlocked, you only get 3 crops from each plant. But you need 5 crops to make one seed which is highly inefficient because then I would need at least two plants just for enough to make one seed. Is there any skill or something that makes seeds cheaper or something?

Just grow multiples of each crop, no need to micro-manage it. Two plants of whatever can be harvested for seeds while multiple others are used as ingredients for stews or whatnot. Not sure if this answered your dilemma but it seems kind of pointless just growing two plants for seeds alone, at least that's what it sounds like you're saying. Just place a row of ten plots, or eight, or twelve, whatever you want.

And when you say Farming Skill, are you implying the perk called "Living Off The Land?" If those are definitely at full level then check your "Lucky Looter" perk. Upgrading that should give you a higher chance at getting more items.

Like everything in 7D2D your rewards for this perk start out small but get better as it levels.

I absolutely endorse farming in the game, you need the crops for the higher tier foods you will want to craft for the stamina bonuses and also Super Corn which you can convert to bio-fuel for anything requiring gasoline to run (vehicles, generators, powered tools). :buzzed:

I never waste the point on the 3rd level of 'Living off the Land' cuz by that time I have enough points to waste on it, I've already been farming and getting 2 food from each plant enough to fill my storage box with more food than I need. There's plenty other perks to save that point for.

No since A17.

It's obviously worth it because it's far more time efficient than looting or hunting.

The problem is that it's boring as hell. Way more fun to loot and hunt.

Is it worth it? Yes, so much yes.
As other have pointed out you have missed the detail that once a seed is planted you can get a never ending number of crops from that one seed. This is the main reason they cost so much to make at first.
The best food and drinks in the game will need a most of the plants you can grow to make them.

The only things super corn is good for these days, and has been good for for some time now, are;
Eating raw. It's not that great.
Turning into glue. It's a very rare day you will be short on bones for the same job.
Planting it just to be able to say you have it. If you have a collectors mindset this one is worth it.

The seedlings are permanent and, yes, farming is worth it. If it's worth the skill points is a matter of debate.

I believe the five-plants-per-seed we have now is meant to slow down what we had before: easy runaway exponential growth of plants. If you have to wait five growth cycles (without perks) for one plant to produce enough to make an additional plant, then you’re more likely to actually consume some of the plant’s yield, because you need the food in that time. And you’re more likely to appreciate finding additional seeds in loot, where yield from looting does not grow exponentially. The end result is that for most players, their farm still produces every three days, and it still grows over time. So farming is worth it in that sense. But they don’t grow massive fields that hurt performance.

I've never given an award before, not sure how it works, but I gave you a very helpful. Yep, I think that's the thing. You shouldn't just leave your rotting meat in a chest, you should make a farm plot, not that I always do, but that just you should, thanks.

If you loot a lot and kill animals often then farming can be passed up.. but it does add another layer to the game. My partner loves to spec into it and it is nice to have meat stew, blueberry pie and pumpkin pie on hand all the time. Alternatively veggie stew is a renewable resource which is nice because it completely makes you self sustaining aside from the water which is easy enough to gather whenever.

I always found farming worth it. Sure at the beginning it's a bit pathetic because you harvest so little until you get enough crops to make a seed, and then you can multiply, etc. Also it takes a while to find enough rotten meat to make the farm plots. But it's worth persisting as eventually you'll have more than enough crops for cooking stuff like blueberry pie, pumpkin pie etc (if you want to go totally veggie and not have to worry so much about hunting meat). I always try to put perks into the farming and masterchef skills asap.

I Hope they buff super corn again, For it being a mutated class seed, It literally does nothing anymore, Poor food, Poor sell value, Harder to get seeds for it, It has very little use anymore.
