Nearly all my quests are at the waterworks POI...
As stated in the title. Basically every quest I accept sends me to the waterworks poi....

I tried different traders...still happening.
I tried leaving one quest open in the hope that the same POI won't be used untill I've finished the first one....Just got another quest at the same poi...at the same time...

Tried picking a quest far away from said POI....4km away...all the way over in the wasteland....Still the waterworks POI o.O

Am i just getting a ridiculously bad RNG run? Or does this happen to others too?

I'm playing on a randomly generated map using the ingame generator.

You can see what POI the quest is on the screen where you accept the quest. Don't know if you where aware of it, if not it might help choosing your quests.

Don't pick that tier, since the bigger POI's have higher tiers. Or create a NO GO list, just write down the ones you don't want to repeat. The distances and directions will always be the same...

Yeah...noticed that after posting. :P
Started paying attention to the POI names now. Still it pops up a lot. If I where to pick quests at random like I used to, I would probably keep ending up at waterworks. XD

So do you think it might have something to do wit the number of larger POI's available on my specific map?(or lack thereof)
I've noticed multiple instances of multiple waterworks POI's being located a couple hundred meters apart. Combined with a lack of other tier 4 POI's that might lead to nearly all tier 4's being located at waterworks?

Pretty new to the game...not sure how all the systems work.

Yeah, there are likely limited large POIs within range so it will keep sending you to them over and over. It happens quite frequently, and would be nice if the world creation would make sure there were more large POIs around every trader so there would be more variation.

On the plus side, you get to know that POI and can burn through it a lot faster than if you were doing different ones every time.

Got lucky on one RWG and had the traders sending me to the Crack a Book tower over and over. Had every book and schematic pretty quickly. It did get a bit old after a while so had to move to a new area with new traders.

That's most of it, this game is getting close to finished so there won't be any dramatically big changes. RNG giveth and taketh on POI's, and I can relate on doing the same one ad-nauseum since it's the only close one. BTW there's a very shortcut on waterworks if you know where to look.

Allright.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
Guess I'm off to optimize my Waterworks cleartime. ;)

As I recall the waterworks is a tier IV building. Whatever your max quest tier is, all traders will heavily favor that tier. The general consensus is that they should rejigger this to offer more lower tier quests. For me on tier V, it’s meant alternating Shamway Factory, Shotgun Messiah, Shamway Factory, Shotgun Messiah. So at least your waterworks fatigue will be temporary, before tier V fatigue sets in. :buzzed:

Tbh, I think there may be some sort of affinity in the system for that poi. It was coming up a lot in my solo run in navezgane (near Jen), and in my duo run on a rando gen map there were a couple that spawned in relatively close to each other (also near Jen), and we were doing that poi pretty much constantly for that tier. It might be that there just aren't many tier 4 pois though.

I just posted a similar thread before I seen this one, I am sick to death of tier V missions all from 4 traders 95% are tier V and they are all in the same hand full of buildings because that is what is in the area, they take way too long to do and become very tiresome.

Honestly...after slogging through tier IV for I havent done any tier V's yet....
Luckily I'm more of a builder anyway.

I kind of understand that they have to be at least reasonably close to the trader....I can't see myself traveling 10km to do a tier V as I expect it will indeed take quite a while to clear...and then all the way back....nevermind handing in the quest on the same day as picking it up.

But man...RWG needs some work.

Just to be clear, there's no time limit on these quests. There's no penalty if you can't turn it in the same day. The real time limit is the blood moon, e.g. it would be awkward to say the least if horde night happened while you're in the middle of a quest.

The biggest map you can make is 8 km on a side, so a 10 km commute is unlikely. But I'd still wait until you have a motorcycle, 4x4, or gyrocopter before doing tier V quests, both for speed and for storage space. I end up filling two chests, plus my backpack inventory, when doing a tier V quest.

It was just confirmed yesterday in the dev stream video that they'll have multiple tabs of quest offers for A20, so you can choose from a variety of tiers once you've unlocked them.

I've played in multiple random gen worlds and waterworks by far seems to be the most common T4 POI in the game. Which is a shame because I also like the haunted house and the church.

Missed the stream. Watching it now.

The tier IV church is one of my favorites, too. :steamhappy:
