Super corn
First time playing the new alpha 19 and I setup a super corn farm, but it isn't good anymore? Can I even do anything with it apart from 3 hunger or did I waste my time. I thought this stuff used to be good

use it to make glue
Harryy™ 29 DIC 2020 a las 6:48
Useless then haha

Not useless, but it's so easy to get stacks of bones for glue that it is pretty much pointless.
Harryy™ 29 DIC 2020 a las 7:38
Bones are easier to get considering I have thousands from gathering animals for farm plots and I can just make meat stews so there is no need for supercorn anymore which is a shame

Yes, supercorn seems underdeveloped in the current game. I imagine more changes are in store.

tbh i literally dont understand the logic of it being put into the game

To waste valuable asset space and make excuses for other things not being in the game lol.
Shane 29 DIC 2020 a las 12:08
well i grow it because its there, and its certainly taking up space haha

The farming perk for the last few Alphas mention being able to craft mutated seeds, as in plural, but super corn so far has been the only mutated seed in the game. As it is now it's likely just a placeholder until the game hits the last stretch of development and farming, along with other low priority features, gets fleshed out.

Super corn might earn its place as a late-game food and we'll probably get some other super foods as well (Bioluminescent mushrooms? Antibiotic blueberries? Corn ethanol?), but for now it's just an optional source of glue.

Don't underestimate the value of glue. It's one of the most used items in the game if you consider repair kits alone.

supercorn is like 3 per glue, bones are 5 (can't remember exact values), so it is more efficient in making glue.

It is absolutely awesome! Glue is the killer feature! Endless supply of explosives and mines :D You won't get as much any other way.

Yep. It's mentioned earlier that you can also make it from bones, but, You have to go out of your house to get bones, And while you may be able to get a fair amount, the amount you get over time goes down with every passing day as animal counts dwindle and you start running out of buildings with harvestable corpses. Supercorn on the other hand can be grown en masse and indefinitely, making things like mines that used to be rather useless due to being one-and-done a viable tactic as it's no longer quite so taxing on your resources to re-make them every time.

Yep, exactly!
Mines are easy to craft, with exception of that duct tape. It is simply never enough. Unless you have other sources of glue - there is no chance you can have enough explosives to survive a decent horde night.
Mines and throwable explosives both require tons and tons of duct tape you won't be able to get any other way but batch-buying it off all traders and breaking up every single corpse, and still, it is not enough, because if you're explosive-oriented, you cannot really do close-up combats, and combat inside buildings risk both yourself and your possible loot.
