Multiple bases ??
Are you guys have multiple bases and where do you put them? Will the zombies attack all my bases or simply the one im in? I have survived in an attic for nearly a month but now i have build a full concrete base near a trader and at the junction of 2 biomes or zones. I want to do more exploration but things are getting far. Is it risky to build outpost for storage or mini- bases for each zone?

You can build more than one base and it is also advised to do so.

you build your everyday base where you store things then you want to build your blood moon base some where else, because if it gets over taken at least you can run away and your main base is not destroyed.

also zombies don't usually attack a base if no one is home, but screamers will be attracted to heat sources so if you leave and have all your smelters going it could attract a screamer.

One early strategy is to build your smelter base by itself...ah NM its more fun if you figure it out yourself. If you die in this game, it is my advice to make yourself start over on a new map....that way you'll get the most fun out of it.

I usually have 2 bases, the one where I fight the horde night and the one with most of my resources. I don't see the point in having multiple bases scattered all over the map to be honest, but hey everyone has it's own gameplay style.

If you play with reduced loot...you are gonna need to travel far across the map. Not A bad idea to have some mini bases..but you better know the tricks of surviving....

I would highly recommend learning the medical tree of skills if you play with low/no loot respawn.

I build only one base, I design it so my supplies and crafting stations dont get destroyed so it isnt a problem. If the base fails to maintain its defensive layers then I consider the game lost and make a new game.

the only time i ever lost my supplies in my base is when I was hunting something right outside and left the doors to my base open, a wandering pack of wolves ran in and destroyed some crates probably filled with food or something and almost destroyed my weapon and ammo crates. But that wasn't a fault of the design you see...
Recently I had some vultures on a bloodmoon hordenight fly into my base from some open windows and damage my supply crates, that was a design flaw, but was easily fixed.

Outposts can work for short term, but I would invest time into making someting like a motorcycle or 4x4 100%

I will spend the night in the closest poi to where I am when night comes, or I'll build a little 3x4 hut, until I can build workstations, while storing my loot in a chest in the street in front of a trader. Then I try to build my 'warehouse" (storage chests and crafting stations) right beside the trader that has the most ores close by him (nitrate/coal/lead). When I get enough stone, I'll build my main tower on the largest piece of flat surface I can find near a trader close to the wasteland. After awhile I will become strong enough to live out of my truck, and then that becomes base, only returning to the tower to make bullets.

A truck will seriously reduce travel time from poi cluster to cluster, and it has a sizable storage compartment. Sounds like you may enjoy one.

I have my main where we live with storage, crafting & gardening. Then I have a Horde Night Base. Its not too far from my main.

i personally just use a standard house for crafting/storage, and upgrade it a little bit for the sake of some XP but only as far as concrete stage 1 tbh

this is because i personally dont have any issue fighting horde outside in the open

this all said however i play two game the other game with another person, who struggles playing my way. so on this game he has a house base, i have mine too, then at the halfway point between them is a clothes shop which we both upgrade as a defensive horde base for horde nights to help him out more.

oh and i never fight the horde outside my little crafting/storage base incase you get some of those suicide bombers making a mess of the area when they explode.

as for travelling, i have all the vechiles, car, pushbike, moped, motorbike and chopper, all of which fit in your pocket, and the car has the largest storage. so go in the car clear out a full city, if you die, use the motorbike for example to get back to the car, put the motorbike in ya pocket drive the car home.

Making remote outposts/safehouses/emergency supply caches all over the map is a great idea. I like exploring too, and in the early game I’ll frequently ‘set up camp’ shortly before sunset when I’m far from my main base. It’s safer than taking over a POI, unless you’re sure the POI is free of zombies or have time to clear it.

To be clear, these are cozy 5x5x3 wooden shacks with some storage, a torch, a campfire, and not much else. They only only add defense by concealing me from detection overnight, and letting me hear a zombie banging on the door before they’re hitting me. If zombies do come, it’s either jump out to fight them or slink away. Since there’s only one campfire, there are no screamers.

As you get into the mid game, you’ll be more willing to be outside at night, and the need to spend every night laying low in a shack like this diminishes. But they remain handy places to stash a bit of food, water, and medical supplies to get you out of a bind while you’re on a long trip. They also help you consolidate loot. By the late game, you’ll have less frequent survival problems, as well as good vehicles with enough storage space to keep the important things with you at all times.
