I typically put it beside an elevated path to my horde base. It will knock off many of the zombies making the horde more manageable.
As a melee weapon it is pretty useless. Can be used as a zero stam tool to destroy blocks, but is still lacking.
When proper utilized it's very usefull, mostly used to push zeds off of a walkway, to make 'em fall and run around to try again.
As other have pointed out it can be powerful for horde night setups, however I've also found it very useful as a combo-melee weapon.
When I go through Tier V quests, and I don't want to put points into strength, I run this weapon to help deal with lone ferals. You use this to knock them down, then finish them off with the appropriate melee.
It requires no fuel, no stamina, no other resources, only durability. It's excellent for saving bullets.
Only if it gets in their way, on their way to you. The same goes for vehicles.
