Idea for steady egg supply
Sorry if this is not a new idea, but thought I would post this out of curiosity. What if you could build a chicken coop so that you could have a steady supply of eggs? Don't get me wrong, I like the realistic fact you need to try to find them in nests, but sometimes you just need to make some bacon and eggs or a blueberry pie. You could unlock it under Living Off the Land. It could be an enclosed item so that you wouldn't really need the animations for chickens, but have a soft, clucking sound when you're near it (kind of like the sound of fire when you get closer to it). Chickens could be added later with them sitting inside since there are already wild chickens in the game. You would need building materials (woods, nails, plant fiber, etc.) and maybe 5-10 eggs to make it. What do you guys think?

Love it!

It's decent. If you want to experience this mechanic, try the "Darkness Falls" mod via one of the mod launchers.

It is a fine idea and it has been done through modding in previous versions, but based on comments made by the devs recently, I don't think this will make it into the vanilla game. This is the kind of thing they intend to leave for modders.

Oh is that in the the Darkness Falls mod? I've never modded 7D2D so I didn't, but I'll definitely need to check it out if it does! I have heard though its like 7D2D on steroids lol

While we are on the topic. Does anyone know if lucky looter has an effect on how many eggs you find in nests?

Ahhh gotcha, well I'm happy at least they encourage modding the game! :D

I'm not sure tbh, but I'll definitely keep an eye out to see what other people say about it

I love this idea.

Not only that (and I know, I'm asking a lot here) but wouldn't it also be cool to have you have some minimal care for the chickens too? By which I mean basic watering and feeding. And have them able to be killed by wayward zombies.

I think that would be quite neat.

I love the chicken coop idea! Lets make it fun! There are 'chickens' in the desert. What if you had to catch it. Empty hands...sprinting....catching it. Each chicken can possibly lay 1 egg each day. Each coop can hold 4. You have to provide corn for them to eat and clean (purified) water to drink. One 'bottle' per chicken, per day. You get the empty bottles back.

And they cause noise and smell attracting zombies.
Next we need cows for milk and the ability to grow wheat because I want real bread.

Yeah I'd actually love a way to raise animals for eggs or even meat. I doubt we ever will outside of mods, but it's still a good thought!

How about we have a skill that includes setting traps, like snare traps or box traps?

Then according to the skill, it relates our chance of successfully catching a chicken or bugger all. I'd defo go for that.

I'm loving this train of thought. Especially the smell/heat map and attraction of zombies.

Hey, how about zombie wolves being more attracted to them because well, that's real isn't it?

We don't have wolves here but coyotes and foxes are hell on chickens. I'm sure wolves would like chicken too.:wolftrap:

As rare as eggs are, love the idea. One thing that might be good is if birds' nests had a separate loot respawn timer from the rest of loot respawns and don't require you to be at a distance for that period of time.
