Storage Chest Disappear within a Quest POI
I have noticed and have re-created and tested the fact that our personal storage chest are disappearing when they are located within a building that becomes a Quest POI.
It seems when you reach an area that you have stashed loot within your personal chest located in a building, and later that building becomes a Quest POI that when you start the Quest all items including your chest and other modifications reset ( removed if not belonging to the native structure ).
Is this an intended action or perhaps just an oversight?
Will you be able to fix this issue or do I need to make other plans for my personal chest deposit location for storage around the map?

It is as intended, essentially. Activating a quest resets the whole POI.

(I always put my loot chests in the middle of the road)

This. short version is it's intended and there are reasons for it. Just plop your chests out on the road; Or don't do quests in POI's you know you have storage chests and stuff in. (You can always abandon quests instead of doing them.)

The area is only reset upon interacting with the floating '!' marker at the quest location; So you have plenty of time to cross reference your map or memory, or even just check inside real quick if it's a place you're using for storage.

The reason for resetting a POI for a challenge is to insure that it is in fact a challenge.
Just say no.

And to make sure theres loot there for you to get; And to make sure there are zombies inside for you to kill for the quest; And to make sure the placement of the quest bag is there if applicable; And to make sure the player hasn't turned the quest house into a killing floor for the zombies that spawn..etc, etc, etc. Lotsa reasons for why.

yeah seems reasonable to just move stuff before activating. I just wanted to be sure this was intended reset of the area. thanks

If you put a landclaim block down, it will prevent you from accidentally resetting your base (or anyone else resetting your base on multiplayer), as well as preventing sleepers respawning. For just random storage while looting though, yeah, just put it out in the road - it also makes it easier to remember it’s there next time you’re passing.

aRGH. Lost a full storage chest by siting it too close to the quest POI. gone when I returned for it...

You can often figure out the dimensions of the POI's property because it is raised somewhat, but it would be nice if the POI's borders would be marked in some way once a quest is accepted, both to ensure you don't go outside when the parameters demand you stay within, and so you can be sure your cached items are safe.

Generally I find putting it on the road outside the poi is safe. Since no POIs have a full road attached to them. Though once I have wheels I tend not to bother with that even. My prefered playstyle is int so I'm usually on a minibike by day 3 and motorcycle by day 6 or 7 so my style of play could be different from many others.

One alternative is to place the storage chest AFTER starting the quest. Then you don't have to worry about it resetting, even if you place it on the wrong side of the property line. I think Ming's suggestion is better long term, though, since you'll often do a quest in the same POI multiple times.
