boiled water

so...how do we boil water?

i have a cooking pot. i have a fire. what changed? (ive been gone for 2 years)

Take jar, fill jar with water, go to a campfire and craft boiled water. Don't even need the cooking pot anymore (As of A18.); Cooking pot just makes it craft faster.

They took out the recipe for boiled water in a can, as it is redundant now that you can boil water in a jar without a cooking pot.

Murky water in inventory
Open campfire, add wood fuel to the top right 3 boxes (recipes wont show as craftable until fuel is added)
Type water into the search bar

Given that the OP hasn't played for 2 years, I'm wondering if they didn't have some mods in their game long ago, and then when they updated theres some residual...effects.

I'd recommend the OP to do a complete clean re-install of 7DTD; Open the game through steam and open the launcher; Then go to the tools section, clean game data, and clean it all. Then uninstall 7DTD; Then make sure the folder in the install directory is completely gone.

Once you've done that, Reinstall 7DTD and check if the problem persists.


Also of note.. You're looking IN the campfire while trying to craft water, right? Not just standing next to it and trying to craft the water in your inventory?

this was a clean install. on a brand new pc.

They are gonna need a screenshot. What you are saying is extremly improbable to be right.

Do you have the option to cook anything? Is it just water that is a problem? I know I was a bit confused at first by the fact that there are now separate tabs for food, drink, and chemical recipes in the campfire. The search function should definitely bring up Bottled Water, though.

Water:

You need: Glass Jar, Snowballs, Murky Water.

At a campfire: Glass Jar+Snow=Murky Water
THen take that Murky water and process it again into Water.
Dig in toilets to find Murky water, then you can skip a step. Fun fact, you get the jars back from drinking water, so it helps keep your water supply up. Additional fun fact: Harvest the pink bushes, Crysanthemum, combine 1 Water+1 Crysanthemum to make a Red Tea, a great early game thing to slow down your food/water usage and make stamina come back faster.

have murky water and wood in your inventory. open the campfire interface. put wood in fuel slot of campfire. click on bottle of murky water. click recipes. choose boiled water. craft it.

If you are truly unable to do this, delete your mods folder and do a file clean via the launcher because you have broken your game somehow.
