Screamer spawns in my base
I build a wall 80x80 yeah its very huge but i wanna build inside a loot of thinks
Farm, garage for the car, bikes
Towers, tree farm, traps etc
Right now i build just a house in the midle 12x12 and a farm 12x20 so there is a lot of space still. The screamer spawns always on my farm or near my house
I put everywhere where is a lot of space a wood frame without upgrading but that doesnt work. Is there a way to avoid that the screamer spawns inside the wall instead of outside?
Will torches help or something else some suggestions would be nice.

Screamers are attracted to heat. Torches, Forges, camp fires etc. The more you have in a chunk the more frequent they spawn. They should not spawn within 15 blocks of a bedroll. Landclaim blocks also have a radius. Just cant remember. If a private game or server you can adjust these ranges in the config file to keep them at bay.

The main difference with land claim blocks is that they supposedly now prevent zeds from spawning in their radius, (which is apparently larger too) it's no longer just block destruction prevention from players. That and it seems they are easier to create now, but you can only have one.

Not that I've ever had zombies spawning in my base in the past in previous alphas, as long as the floor was not dirt, so I'm stil a little confused on how it's supposed to work.

Out of curiosity, what would make you think that would work?

On point....
You built a base double the size of the area covered by your landclaim, and expect to prevent all zed spawns inside of it. That isn't going to happen easily.

You could convert all of the ground into fertilized farmland, which could prevent the standard biome spawns. It's not going to prevent bloodmoon hordes or screamer spawns though.

what is the point of building in this game if we are limited to small house? What if we want to build big mansion with walls and traps around it? Zombies in this game are magical creatures or something and they just teleport into my base because **** logic :/

;)

I understand wanting to build big, but there has to be a limit on being able to prevent zed spawns. Should I be upset that I can't build a wall around an entire city to prevent zeds from spawning in it?

Whats the point of a tower defense game if you can make your base so large that no zombie can spawn at all

I'm not talking about that big area :) Now we are limited to make small houses only. Everything bigger than 40x40 is pointless. I dont like to be limited in the game where huge part of it is building.
I know we can edit files to make claim block area bigger but It would be nice to have option to adjust it to our needs ;)

I think Land claims blocks can go up to 70x70, that's a pretty big space for one person,
I'm in the process of designing a fort that contains everything one person could need and
the outer wall only comes to 24x36.

Farms will have to be outside but since that's a 2 min job in the morning every 3 days
and zombies couldn't care less about them I'm not too fussed about it.

If ya wanna build big, ya gotta do the skyscraper. As far as I can tell, the claim block reaches up and down much further than it does out.
R34P3RK1NG Dec 7, 2018 @ 5:10pm
Landclaim blocks can cover as low as a 21x21 area (claim in the center, 10 blocks out in each direction), or 71x71 (claim in the center and 35 blocks out in each direction) area, just using the selectable options ingame.

-In 16.4, landclaims also cover all blocks from bedrock to the sky within their claim range.

-You should have plenty of space to build a mansion in an 71x71 area that covers a near-infinite verticle distance.

-You can tell (in 16.4 atleast) when you are building outside your claims area as the block you're placing will go from green (within claim) to white(not within claim).

...hope this helps

i just thought it is like in other games, everywhere who is a block of a player nothing will spawn

cover all your ground with wood paneling. this will stop the spawns
Kotori Matsudo Dec 7, 2018 @ 7:22pm
I think the default is 30x30 or 35x35? Something like that I think, and can be changed in settings to as much as 71x71 as someone else stated. That is horizontally. It also covers the entirety of below you down to bedrock and to the sky ceiling.

71x71 is way plenty for a group, let alone one person. Try placing down blocks or even a wall that is 50x50 and you will find that you have a lot of room to work with inside it still. Then there is the fact you can build up as high as the game will let you, or down to the bedrock (though remember they can dig now too).

Screamer spawns can still spawn even within this claim I believe, so keep that in mind. And then there is blood moon horde too, but it should keep you safe from other spawns and sleepers, etc.

The challenge here is to use the zed spawns in your base to your advantage. If you know where they are going to spawn, place some funnels and traps there.

You could affectively funnel them to an area that you could then farm them in.

yeah that would be a dumb assumption to make.

@Bullet that's an interesting exploit. What do your logs look like from the spawn errors?
