Drive away from the blood moon
Does anyone else just drive away from the bloodmoon safely?

After surviving 77 days (11 blood moons) we all just got on our motorcycles and drove away. They spawned, chased for 30 seconds and then lost us. No more spawned until we went back to fight. There was 0 challenge to this.

In A18 there will be an electrical storm coming on BM night which will stop all vehicles from working... >:-)

bicycle is ok, easy to evade blood moons.

Misinformation. That was an idea tossed around by the devs in the forums but it has not been added to A18, and A18 is now under feature lock so nothing new will be added until the next alpha. Please don't make claims like that without checking first.

Any vehicle really. Given enough time they can all outrun the zeds. So blood moons are meaningless. We still fight them because they're intense and fun, but it feels different knowing we could just "skip" them.

And the Gyrocopters... they just alter the game to something completely different. Cool and also OP.

They need to add something to prevent riding through horde night. That's as bad as hiding at bedrock. They added digging to prevent that. I'm sure they'll add something to prevent riding out the horde. The Devs dont WANT players skipping the bloodmoons.
What's the harm though? If you want to fight you can stay and fight, being able to run doesn't do anything to prevent that
No harm at all its just another way of playing the game if your not into standing and killing. Same as some players like to go to bedrock nothing wrong with that just another way to play if you like it do it. enjoy

Except that when your electronically controlled cooling system fails......

My bad, they're TALKING about adding that in the future... but MM seemed to be quite set on adding something like that. They've already discussed about this with the team and it's probably just a matter of time before they add it.

Point is: in the future you won't be able to drive away during BMs anymore. :lunar2019coolpig:

“Prevent” is overstating things. You say prevent, and you immediately get pushback of “why do you care how others play, it doesn’t hurt you, don’t ruin my fun, don’t force people, blah blah blah.”

A better approach is to bring vehicles into balance with other horde night tactics. The effort versus reward should be comparable to building, fighting, etc. For instance, it will be harder to acquire gas in A18, which will have a direct effect on the balance of this.

They don't want us to be 100% safe. Skirting the horde by riding is the same as hiding at bedrock.
Let me rephrase. There’s an important difference between ‘players shouldn’t be allowed to do xyz’ and ‘xyz isn’t challenging right now and that should change.’ You’ll consistently find the latter is, at a minimum, a lot less controversial.

Agreed on terminology. If players try hard enough they will find an exploit to the current capabilities of the game. To me cheese is cheese, play the game as intended. I like the electrical storm idea, but then why would other electronics (non-vehicle) be allowed to work.

How will the acquisition of gas change in A18? Haven't heard of this...
