No toggle sprint
My hand is literally cramped up over this game from hold w and shift, add toggle sprint. Toggle sprint is when you press shift NOT HOLD and you will keep sprinting as long as you are holding w

I'd be fine with an Auto-run key too :P
Could act like a cruise control for vehicles too

Agree. A "lockable" run button would save hand cramps. Maybe assign "CapsLock" as the run button might work.

In a game where there is a cost to running, auto-run does not make sense.

Even with stamina, I still think it would make it so much more comfortable to run long distances. Especially if it worked with vehicles.

Well, auto run acts as if "w" is being pressed.
I said nothing about sprinting which uses stamina.

If it's too much to grasp tho, think of it as auto-walk key, tho games generally call it auto-run key.

Does when your hand starts cramping up from hours of play.

Had the same problem, and that's why I use the mouse I do (Logitech G600). I programmed one of the thumbpad buttons to toggle holding Shift+W down, so now if I want to run I just tap that button once and I'm off to the foot races... At least, until: A) I run out of stamina; B) I run off a cliff by accident while not paying attention; C) I jog right into the middle of a pack of zombie dogs (which seems to ALWAYS be when situation A occurs as well).

Suffice it to say, I don't use that auto-run macro much anymore. Driving seems to be about the only time, so I revised it to just holding down W.

Depends on exactly what OP is asking, which isn't super clear. Auto-run is usually when you hit a button and you move forward automatically, hands-free. But being able to toggle sprinting so that you don't have to hold shift for a long time would be great, and it's something plenty of games with finite stamina employ (obviously you just stop sprinting when that runs out). Most cross-platform action games have it that way by default because sprinting is usually bound to clicking the left stick on the controller, an action no reasonable developer would have you hold for any length of time.

It's the same type of thing as being able to choose whether you hold RMB to aim down the sights, or press RMB once to ADS and press it again to lower the weapon.

Is their any way for your hand to cramp other than literal? Why must people talk like 90's cheerleaders?

I'm not asking for auto-run, (although that would be a nice addition for long distance travelling, that really should be in game too. I use a loonie jammed under W and a zippo lighter on my shift key for when i'm traveliling far and using a bicycle/bike/truck and its great) I want TOGGLE SPRINT. As in you're holding W and walking, you tap/press 'shift' (as apposed to HOLDING-SHIFT) and you start sprinting as long as you're still holding 'W' (just like other games; Rising Storm 2: Vietnam, Insurgency Sandstorm, Minecraft ect...)

Like, for real.

You shouldn't even be running long distances to begin with considering how easy it is to craft even a bicycle early on in the game...

Ah yes, now I'm seeing the picture, and realizing just how many games I play that have that run toggle mode. The quick tap of shift while already moving puts you in run mode, until you back off the forward motion (or in some games tap the shift again). Funny how you take that basic mechanic for granted until you don't have it. And, that same sprint toggle mechanism would be handy for vehicles as well, kicking in the turbo for a little extra zip.

Not sure if you've got any programmability in your interface devices, but to get around the issue I'd still recommend programming key toggles if you have the capability - I constantly use those custom macro and keypress commands on my gaming mouse profiles to overcome any deficiencies in particular game controls.

The stamina doesn't change anything. Just tap the "sprint" key again and you'll be regaining stamina. There should be an option to toggle "sprint"(preferably a separate command from "hold to sprint"), and there should be a new command for toggling "walk". These features have existed in open-world games for many years. Their absence makes this game feel very dated.

SPF, people shouldn't be forced to spend a point on a one-and-done skill. Unless you're making bikes for other people in multiplayer, that skill is useless after you make the bike. If they allow you to sell bikes to the trader for a reasonable price, it would be different, but the game would still benefit from an auto-walk.

You realize that skill branches on to craft motorcycles, 4x4's and gyrocopters right? Idk what you mean by "one-and-done" skill.
