Alpha 16 Experimental - Massive Crops cause massive lag
Wild plants cause no lag, only the player planted ones. I had a ton of plants planted and picking them was a nightmare. Even hitting them with my fists caused the game to freeze for a few moments.

I discovered that planting them apart from each other stops the lag from happening.

Damn that would suck. I love cropping. Currently have a 300 block field turning out cotton for duct tape. So far no problems. I do run into trouble if I plant more than 30 to 40 trees tor timber. Those I space out in 3 groups of 10 and everything seems fine. Boths my crops and the trees are probably at least 75 to 100 blocks away from my base.

The problem is that unity is garbage and is not meant for a game like 7dtd, its a engine problem.

correct, going back to the traditional(original) method of planting (space between each row) works very well, virtually no lag, even with a 100 x 100 farm.

From what I've observed, it's less to do with code or mechanics, and more to to with the new bounding boxes, and mesh/models overlapping when fully grown. (blame the art department, lol).

adding trees thorugh DM mode and making a forest or even semi-forested area will cause BIG lag too.

100x100 was no problem for me but once I exceeded this I got freezes each time I picked up a plant! I have not changed the types of crops I'm planting, I only added 2-3 more rows.

It's listed as a known issue on the A16.4 patch notes.

No schedule. The large one that change build numbers ie A15 to A16 take months. Smaller patches that take it to A16.2, A16.3, A16.4, and so on are rolled out as needed when they are ready. TFP hasn't given dates for some time as a policy due to people loosing their minds over it if any form of delay happens.

5 months seems like a significant delay. The targeting when planting crops is all over the place too - it should only let you plant on the ground instead of giving you a red target in the air.

Planting and harvesting are both crap at this stage which is sad for such a grindy game.
I don't mind grinding when it's fun to play but grinding through bugs and errors is not fun.
