Multiple Forges?
1) If i were to have more than one forge in a single player gamer, how many should i have?

2) what materials should i be smelting? i imagine one will be purely for rocks.

If you will have more than one forge/campfire running at once you will get a lot of screamers.
Make a pit with spikes above against them.

For building a big base you will need 2 forges. More than 2 you will get problems to feed them ;-)

you didn't really answer the second question

that is because your playstyle dictates what you need. i made 2000 Cement mix and i still haven't used it all 20 days later. many players would be constantly running out. iron is in constant demand though i craft alot of sledgehammers and crossbow bolts.

I use about 3-4 forges depending on how far in i am. Normally two for Forged iron/Steel & two for cement. Idc about screamers or zombies. 3x layers of wood spikes around the base. between that and me and my friends. is np. they don't even hit the forged steel wall.

Just gotta learn to manage them well. Shut em off when not smelting or creating something. And if you have a coal mine doesn't really matter. ♥♥♥♥ burns forever

mid game you will need more rocks than metall - maybe 170/30 when you upgrade concrete-reinforced concrete. 120/80 when rebar-reinforced concrete.
100/100 when you are making steel.
100% is one forge.

Many players are making 3 forges - mid game they are not expensive anymore. One for steel, one for cement and one for ammo.

It's really up to you. You will know it when you get out of cement ;-) By starting a base you will need much cement.

wish they would just increase the heat map it generates and give me 6 input slots.

I use one for iron/clay/glass, another for brass/lead/clay, and two for just stone :)

I like to run them all at once, and play with the screamers :)

I nearly always have the following:
1) Iron
2) Brass and Sand
3) Lead
4) Stone
5) Stone
---Sometimes I have an extra for iron, but not often.

The Iron forge usually runs 8-12 hours a day, the others are mostly idle (at least after may base is upgraded to reinforced concrete).

but then how do you make windows with the lead separated? i wish i could just combine their inventories.

Wood windows don't require glass; only wood. And yet they can be smashed to receive glass.
Go figure.
