Steam vr showing up in quest 3 home as a window and controllers not detected by steam vr

Just got a Meta Quest 3 and installed steam link. My quest pairs fine but the controllers are not seen by Steam vr after steam vr starts and finishes connecting the window showing steamlink is blacked out and it puts me in the Meta Quest vr home environment and has s section of it showing the steam vr home witch I can sometimes use an Xbox controller with however I cannot move through this environment and can only navigate though menus with the Xbox controller but I still can move through the quest home environment freely but with a static (as in still) image of the steam vr home following my avatar taking 1/4 of my view that i cannot interact with.
