I can't fit it in my old rig but if you can get a PCI-E expansion for USB 3.0 try that before going through the month long endeavor I took with Steam support doing everything short of them telling me I was out of luck (warranty expired but wouldn't matter as it was clearly not a Index issue) and to rely on the internet...
Sir,
This is the feature request forum.
I've ordered a new cable. The "trident cable" OP is referring to i think he means the 3 way split cable portion that gets power, display port, usb.
I can try updating BIOs, since others have had some level of luck with that I've got nothing else to lose. Cheaper than buying a new Index headset which I have to wait for anyway.
When searching online other users hitting 108 are all the way back in 2020. Looks like the issue is cropping up again, and I suspect it is a software issue, but forked over $$$ for replacement cable to be sure that is true.
No feature add request here as pointed out by Bob Loblaw, but an investigation. USB devices are some of the least 'changed' function in the PC market, but both the Index and Steam Controllers (RIP) have issues where they stop communicating over the port, in the case of the Steam Controller never to be revived again. I sincerely doubt if those dongles were opened up that there was some innate hardware failure.. this is a software/firmware issue.
