Re-design Index to prevent sweat damage to circuits
I have hyper hydrosis, though not to a level that is absurd. I sweat a lot, but still within what can be considered "normal". I like to play Beat Saber.

I've broken 3 Valve Index headsets in the following way. Customer Support replaced 2 of them, but now it's out of warranty.

Sweat gets absorbed by the fabric band at the top of the head. It then runs up it all the way to where it meets the actual headset. This point also happens to be a VENTILATION OUTLET for the headset. Big mistake. Sweat drips there, goes into the ventilation outlet, to the circuits, damages them, completely breaking the headset.

Three different headsets broken this way. In this last case, I was doing everything possible to try to prevent it:
- Of course I use default mask.
- I take the headset off every 10 minutes or so, take the mask off, and clean it thoroughly with a towel.
- I also clean myself with a towel when I do.
- I ALWAYS leave the headset pointing upwards when I don't have it on. Either when I stop playing, or when I'm taking a break, I leave it on top of a towel tilted upwards, to try to make gravity pull the sweat down.
- As I said, I leave the headset on top of another towel so that it absorbs any sweat that drips.

And yet, the sweat just crawls against gravity through the fabric band all the way up to the ventilation outlet, and goes into the circuit.

Why is the fabric headband tied right next to the ventilation outlet? That is just bad design.

Please, whenever you design a new headset or adjust the current design, revisit this. Put a clear separation between the fabric band and the ventilation. Or just put the ventilation somewhere else entirely.

I don't think I'm the only one that has had this happen.

I have another vr headset. When I play very intense games for over an hour and the room is hot. My sponge is all soaked in sweat. You can't see it, because it's trimmed with fabric. Drying takes 24 hours (the material keeps the liquid inside for a long time). So my choice, put it aside for 24 hours, or replace the sponge with another piece.

Yes, this is a bad design, in index 2 it should be corrected.

I wrote this because someone may have such a problem and is trying to save their kit, 10 minutes of drying may not be enough.
