2.8.4 Beta bug: Distorted visual glitch when open Steam VR overlay in-game (Quest 2 Airlink & Steam Link)
Issue:
When opening Steam VR overlay in-game, the game doesn't turn dark like the stable version. Instead, it's distorted as if it increases the "FOV" of the game, resulting in the wrong stereo image render + headache inducing when moving around.

When it happens:
- When being in-game with the Steam VR overlay on.
- When the game hangs which distorts the stereo image as mentioned.

Solutions I've tried
- Restart everything including Steam VR, Steam client, my Quest 2, restarting Oculus client (for Airlink), restarting Steam Link on Quest.
- Updated everything including graphics card driver, Windows, Steam VR [Beta], and my Quest 2 to the latest version.

Additional note:
It seems like the issue only appears in the Beta version of Steam VR as the latest stable version (2.7.something) does not have the problem. The reason I want to use the Beta is for the hand tracking.

Specs:
Quest 2 (with the latest version, I forgot which)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with Radeon Graphics 3.20 GHz
GPU: Nvidia RTX 3060 Laptop, 6 GB GDDR6

I have the same problem with the Quest 3 (PClink) with the latest SteamVR stable (2.8.8). I think it started with SteamVR 2.8.

Lens distortion appears in SteamVR overlay and on any reprojected frames. So any time a game lags it flashbangs me with lens distortion trying to make me go frog-eyed.

This note from SteamVR 2.8 stable seems to describe what is happening:

OpenXR:
Fix non-base projection layers displaying in the wrong space.

In case it matters I use FPSVR to disable ASW.
