Meta quest 3. VRlink driver error.
Hello all.

I hope some magical person can help me.

Just started using the quest 3 and have been experiencing constant crashes with it. Specifically in half life alyx and poker stars.

When playing, within about 10-15 minutes the games crash. When looking at my computer after, it comes up with this error message.

"The VRlink Driver encountered a fatal error: Error: Got error during nvEncodePicture EOS with NVENCSTATUS. 4. Error: device passed to the API is invalid."

Computer is high end so i would like to think it isn't the parts. I have updated to the most recent GPU driver as well as updated everything else.

Any help on this would be fantastic.

Cheers.

This error is typically caused by being on the wrong driver versions for your GPU or your GPU is unsupported. And, we recommend downloading newest drivers directly from NVIDIA for NVIDIA cards. NVIDIA Drivers older than October 2023 drivers are incompatible with Steam Link.

Also, what GPU are you using?

That's very strange. On a lark I downloaded that version with a few different NVIDIA GPUs, and no dice. The fact that it states "Device passed to the API is invalid." makes me wonder if the GPU fell off the bus.

We've found at least one 3090 (though it was a founders edition) that required the PCIEx16 bus to be configured as Gen 3, instead of automatic in BIOS, otherwise it would sometimes fall off the bus, but I don't recall the error it gave.
