Major Issue - STEAMVR - Using Wheels/Sticks - 'Possible' FIX INSIDE!
As title...This is a major issue that as far as I can tell, has been a problem for a long time.

When using a steering wheel (Specifically Logitech G29 in my case) along with the HTC Vive, if I press the side button on headset to bring STEAMVR Menu/Overlay up (Or via menu button on Vive wand) it's bugged.

There's a constant scrolling (With an annoying ding, ding, ding sound) which renders the whole menu/overlay unusable.

I can't access anything, I can't invite friends to games, nothing. I believe it happens when people are using flight sticks too, although I don't own one myself to confirm.

This is something that heavily breaks the operation of my Vive and any VR gaming I want to do that involves my wheel.

Please fix ASAP!

Cheers.

Bump. I'm trying to take part in a racing league, and this is a serious bug that hampers things.

It's such a usability issue as well, can't believe it's been around for so long! :-(
Was hoping this was finally fixed with the recent update. Nope. Can not believe this issue still persists after YEARS. Come on guys, please...It completely breaks usability of STEAM while in VR!

Fix this. Please. It makes no sense why my wheel would be operating the Steam UI.
Do the DEVS actually know about this issue? :-/
C'mon DEVS, please at least acknowledge this issue.

thanks a lot TekNeil for your persistency regarding this and for the bug reports you collected. they are a great resource, if any dev should ever take the time to investigate this issue.

it is actually THEM that should thank you for your efforts to enhance THEIR products, and not me. not even an acknowledgement is really low though. i mean, what's the use of a "SteamVR Bug Reports" forum, if reports are continually ignored like that.

a short "thanks for the report! we know about it and a fix is planned." would be enough.

it is really sad, that we cannot even get an aknowledgement of this bug after so many years.

my overall liking of Valve as greatly decreased in the last years. i used to be a great fan of what they are doing, but their software quality and support have greatly decreased in my opinion. i'm stumbling upon so many bugs and problems in their websites, apps and tools from day to day. especially SteamVR is a buggy mess most of the time for me. :(

in my opinion any company has a great responsibility to provide quality and support to their paying customers. with all the mindboggingly huge revenue Steam must create for Valve, and the immense resources they should have available, this is even less understandable.

That's certainly what it feels like, and it feels completely wasted. A complete waste of our time.

BTW, I see you bumping the topics relating to the issue, good job. It's a shame it's falling on deaf ears...

Well then...I hope with the reveal of the Valve Index HMD, that STEAM may actually look into or even acknowledge this issue that has plagued us for so long!
Still....This damn issue persists. I'm just getting back into playing none wheel/car games and it's a frigging joke that I have to physically unlpug my wheel's USB connection every time.

The 'Possible' fix above worked once then not again for some reason. PLEASE will you fix this STEAM!
I found a more physical solution to stop the logitech wheels registering as inputs within none steering wheel games: Inline USB Power/Data switch![amzn.to]

A switch that the logi wheels should have probably had to start with.

Using this on two wheels, simply keep the wheel powered off, and then switch on 'Before' launching a game that uses wheel.
