blue screen posible fix
If you are getting a blue screen when launching Steam VR or changing the refresh rate, roll back your GPU driver to 'GeForce Game Ready Driver - WHQL.' This worked for me, and I hope it works for you too.

OMG I am not the only one, I rolled back to 561.09.

Same issue here.

I have a RTX 4070 Ti SUPER (MSI GAMING X SLIM). I get the BSOD with the current driver 565.90, but not the previous one 561.09 as well as 560.70. I get the BSOD once I dare to change the Index HMD refresh rate (nvlddmkm.sys - DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL).

I'm also having the issue with the disappearing mouse cursor over half the screen like many others: https://steamcommunity.com/app/250820/discussions/2/4364628453803357473/

I had a AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE before and had none of those issues. If it wasn't for Raytracing (Portal RTX etc.) then I would switch back to AMD in a heartbeat. Didn't expect such issues with NVIDIA.

Already opened a ticket with Steam Support. At the end of it they don't have a fix right now, but will pass it to the developers. Plus I have opened a ticket with NVIDIA driver support as well.

UPDATE: I've filed a Bug Report for this. Feel free to chime in with your experience as well: https://steamcommunity.com/app/250820/discussions/3/7343773446570041601/

try the latest driver from Nvidia GRD 566.03
144Hz seems to work properly again (at least for me)
though they didn't have anything related to this in their patch notes document

Not just a Nuhverdiuh prob either. Happens on Win11 with newest amd adrenalin driver

In case anyone stumbles upon this madness. On win11/rx7700xt/ I fixed the issue by using the amd pro drivers versus the adrenaline ones.

I am on Nvidia GRD 566.03 and cannot change the refresh rate from 90 without the entire PC doing the BSOD nvlddmkm.sys - DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. Very frustrating!
Uninstalled Steam VR, FPS VR, etc and reinstalled them. Same issue. using 4090 and updated Windows 10.

you should try GRD 566.14 which came out yesterday, the vr issue isn't listed in their "community" patch notes (bugs) anymore
A Valve employee has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Yes, this was fixed in the 566.14 Nvidia driver.
