SteamVR
Grey Screen Issue
I have a Valve Index and I keep getting a grey screen when playing anything except VRChat. Been through Steam Support and now they are acting dumb and clearly not reading the screenshots I am giving them that show that I am using my Nvidia GPU set to Max Performance. I've even been through one headset so it's not that. I have also checked that it's not any of the usb devices that I have plugged in as well. The only way to not have the issue is either just have a rare lucky day or record or stream with obs. That last one makes me think it's trying to connect to the cpu's graphics automatically. Something like that. I would like to use it normally so any help would be appreciated.

PS. It runs through a Razer Blade 15.

Gray screen means the headset isn't able to determine its position and lost tracking. This is either related to base station issues or USB issues. I had a similar problem with my old OG Vive and managed to solve it by disconnecting the headset and flushing all USB drivers.

Yea just tried that and it didn't help at all. I can still only play without issues when I record or Stream it through OBS. OBS uses the Dedicated GPU instead of the Nvidia one so maybe that's something to do with it idk. I'm pretty sure OBS uses that to record the Nvidia GPU.

This seems like spam now, but OBS uses Integrated Graphics not Dedicated.
I'm, lost and I have no idea what else to try to try to fix this issue. The only way I can get it working is by recording is with OBS or just have a good day if you know what I mean. I've tried different orders of plugging things in, I've replaced my headset, changed what uses Integrated or Dedicated Graphics and I've done your idea. I don't know what else to do and I hate it. It don't make any sense to me that it works when being recorded or streamed through OBS cause all of the settings in the Nvidia Control Panel say it uses the default settings just like pretty much everything else except that it uses the Integrated Graphics, but I know that it uses that to record the other Graphics Card, the Nvidia one. So please someone help me. I don't want to have to record it every time. Just why is it working on OBS and nowhere else?
Try to disable Hardware accelerated GPU Scheduling, and if you do so, stop to start steam as Administrator, that fixxed similar Problems for me
Sry for the late response. Haven’t been feeling well lately. Thank you for the potential fix. I’m guessing when you mean stop you mean close steam and then open it as admin again after you turn off Hardware Acc GPU Scheduling?
Oh and I am going to try to plug the dp port into the thunderbolt 3 port with yet another adaptor to see what that does idk.
I know this is an old chain, but i recently had this issue and wanted to post this in case my solution helps anyone else. What fixed the problem for me was updating my Bios
Updtaing m'y bios, reinstall windows, change gc didn't help :/
