Here's how to fix no audio in SteamVR using Steam Link!
Just recently Valve released an alternative to the two most popular methods of wirelessly enjoying PC VR on Quest headsets (AirLink and Virtual Desktop). This is great news for people who want a "Better than Oculus" experience, but are looking for a free simple solution.

A great number of people (me included) have been experiencing no audio when attempting to use Steam Link with SteamVR on their Quest devices. This is also true even when setting the default audio output and input device in SteamVR to "Headset".

I submitted a support request with Valve to get to the bottom of it. With some luck, they pointed me in the right direction with some troubleshooting steps. They explained that the most likely the cause of no audio is incorrectly installed or missing audio streaming drivers for Steam Link.

Here's how to force SteamVR to correctly install the audio drivers for Steam Link:

1. Open device manager

2. Expand the "Sound, video, and game controllers" category.

3. If it exists, right click "Steam Streaming Speakers". Then click "Uninstall device". Make sure "Attempt to remove the driver for this device" is also checked.

4. Repeat step 3 for "Steam Streaming Microphone" if it exists.

5. Disconnect any VR related hardware from your computer, including any USB tracking dongles as well. eg. Vive trackers, Tundra trackers, etc...

6. Close any VR related software and stop any VR related services (eg. Virtual Desktop Streamer, Oculus OVRService, ALVR, etc...) from running. Also make sure there's no VR related software running in the background, hidden system tray icons (the up arrow in the taskbar bottom right corner).

7. Run Steam as Administrator (Completely close down steam if you aren't sure).

8. Launch SteamVR from the main Steam window with all VR hardware and software disconnected.

9. Click on the hamburger menu on the top left of the main SteamVR status window (where you usually see icons of your headset and controllers).

10. Click on Developer -> Developer settings.

11. A new window should have opened. Scroll down until you see a button labeled "Remove All SteamVR USB Devices".

12. Click it. And say Yes to the prompt.

13. Finally, reboot your computer (Open the start menu, click the power icon, and click Restart. Do NOT click Shut Down) and SteamVR should have correctly installed the audio streaming drivers for Steam Link!!!

Enjoy your new FREE alternative to wireless PC VR!

It isn't working for me, I have done the process two times already and yet I hear nothing coming from my Oculus Quest 3s as I try to run Blade and Sorcery. Please help

That didn't work. Looks like it's another overnight job.
For those who are still experiencing no audio even after trying these steps:

It could be that the steam streaming speakers volume is set to 0%. Or could still be disabled in device manager. This is different than your quest system volume. Also make sure you set your default audio output and input device in steam vr to "Headset". Another suggestion could be to opt into the steam vr beta. It has been known to occasionally fix common issues in the past.

Please remember to do not skip any steps in the initial troubleshooting process. A reboot actually is required for steam vr to refresh the drivers.

Hope this helps!

None of this is working (including the checking the settings and such).
UPDATE: uninstall Steamlink and reinstall it. Worked for me. Credit to this guy.
