Valve Index not working on laptop

For reference i have a Razer Blade 15 (2019 razer blade).
The error that i keep getting is "Laptop: Headset Display Disconnected", when ive checked that everything is properly plugged in.
If i reset my headset it then gives me the error "Headset display mirrored", even though i set the display setting to "extend these displays", it then reverts it to "show only on 1" without me doing anything.
Also, since my laptop doesnt have a displayport plug, i got a usb-c to displayport adapter that im using if this matters at all.
Just recently bought the valve index, please help!

I was having the same problem. I went through 3 different adaptors; to HDMI, USB-C, and Mini-DisplayPort.
Neither hdmi or usb-c worked for me but Mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort worked.
If you have Mini-DisplayPort on your laptop, I recommend that. If not I’m not sure what you could do, there might be another kind that works.

Not all mini DP adapters work. It needs to be specific. I wish I had a list but read about it for 4 years across all forums. even oculus rift S comes with it's own display port to mini DP and works well on an alienware laptop.

Unrelated but I was having problems with performance in most games, so then I put a fan behind my laptop and now it runs perfectly. I guess the built in fan couldn't handle it. I’ve since then bought a laptop cooling pad and it works great, so if you have problems with it too I suggest this.

Thanks but I have a 2020 Blade and unfortunately it doesn't has a mini DP port so I've to find an other adapter to use on the USB-C ThunderBolt port (if it's works).

Sorry, I finally bought an Oculus Quest 2.
Cheaper, very good specs (the fact is that better spec' isn't needed due to the limited configuraton and power of my laptop), and easier to link to the laptop (only USB C).

I've done Half-Life Alyx and some other games, I'm very happy with it.

I have a Razer Blade 15 2019 2070 and my headset keep grey screening, sometimes I have lucky days, but most of the time it's the same issue. I use a Mini-DP adaptor and the only way I have found that makes the headset work properly is literally recording or Streaming everything through OBS. I tried changing what parts of SteamVR uses what graphics, deleting and reinstalling drivers and even replacing my headset. Also Steam Support were crap. Like crap crap. Oh I've also tested the Base Stations seperately and tried unplugging everything from my laptop except the VR.
