Meta Quest 2: Run Steam VR in Oculus via Air Link---GTX 1060 OS: Windows 10
So this is for anyone who has the Meta Quest 2 and are trying to open Steam VR via Air link.

Problem I had:

After setting up Air Link per Oculus's online instructions and some youtube videos, I would get to the point where my headset is on, Oculus PC app running on my computer, and from my Headset in the Oculus PC environment would try to open Steam VR via the virtual desktop. Steam VR would open but I would not get "transported" to the Steam VR Home environment, instead I would just be looking at the app running on my computer while inside the oculus VR home world. Quite frustrating to say the least.

Anyhow,

The fix that worked for me:
After hours of research and trying everything under the sun to be able to get into the steam VR "Home" environment my last ditch effort proved to work..and that was as follows:

1. Open Steam
2. Go to Library
3. Go to Steam VR (downloaded previously from steam store) and right click.
4. Select properties and then go to Betas
5. Select oculus_win7and8 and close pop-up
6. Wait for update to take place.
7. Go to Oculus Headset, connect via air link to your desktop, then open steamVR from the Desktop icon.

This is what worked for me. Granted I am on a 6 year old gaming Laptop. The other options of beta(s) did not work for me but this last one did.

Anyhow I hope this helps anyone running into the same problem I did.

Yk, you can add Steam to the Oculus library like any other game via the + on the top right on the PC app( for some games "Unknown Origins" is required to be enabled in the settings) and run it from the Oculus library.

So the Steam VR app even with Unknown sources enabled wouldn't open properly for me which I attribute to my old gaming system. It wasn't until I went to the old Steam VR version (listed above) that I was able to get into the Steam VR environment and then play my steam VR games through airlink. Thats just what worked for me for whatever reason. Once I upgrade my setup im sure Ill have no problems with the new steam vr.

I have only been able to run Steam VR once and that was through the desktop app. I launched the game through desktop and it jumped in but haven't been able to repeat it. Just been having an issue with it.

@TheMan44 Thank you so much! SteamVR works with my airlink now that I switched my betas. I appreciate your help and wish you a successful life.
