Delayed Audio Issue on Quest 2 (Part 2)
Hi guys,

I am using SteamVR with my Quest 2 headset and in SteamVR I am having the problem that the audio inside the headset has a delay compared to the video. So the audio is too late and is not in sync with the video. The delay is about 250 ms.I am only having the issue with software using SteamVR. The problem does not occur with software running natively on the Quest 2 and it is also not happening for PCVR software that is using the native Oculus API (instead of SteamVR).

I first noticed the problem in games like Half Life Alyx and Walkabout Minigolf. But I am quite sure that is not related to specific games or software but related to SteamVR itself because the problem also occurs when just using the built-in SteamVR media player to play a video.
To demonstrate the problem I used an A/V sync test video (MP4 file) and played it on the Quest 2 using Steam media player (see below for details). I recorded that through the lenses with my cell phone with 60 fps. The sound you can hear in the video should be in sync with the zero position on the line with the moving bar but you can hear that the audio is clearly out of sync.

This is the original test video:

(the audio ping is played exactly when the moving bar is in the center position)

This is how the video appears ony my Quest 2 played through SteamVR media player:

(notice how the audio is too late)

I tried with regular SteamVR and I also tried the beta version of SteamVR. I tried several audio settings in SteamVR and also in Windows 10 audio settings. None of it changed the problem.
I consider my system to be pretty standard: Windows 10 with a Ryzen CPU and an RTX 3080. The problem is 100% reproducible for me.

I contacted the official Steam support and I had a lengthy talk where I answered a couple of questions but they could not help.

I even reinstalled Windows 10 from scratch and I did nothing on it besides installing SteamVR and Oculus software but the issue was still occuring.
Also I have a friend with a Quest 2 and we did the sync test also on this setup but the problem also occured there.

So, one interesting question is if this is a general problem with SteamVR and Quest 2. Is someone *not* suffering from this problem? Maybe you guys could test it for your setup as described below and report back your result please?

Any other ideas/opinions are of course welcomed too!

This is the sync test video as MP4 file:

How to reproduce:
1. Start Link (or AirLink) on Quest 2 and connect to the PC
2. Start SteamVR
3. Start SteamVR-MediaPlayer
4. Play the test video from an MP4 file on the Quest 2
5. Check if audio is in-sync with the video

Thank you for help!
