Non-VR controller support and issues with SteamVR and my WMR headset
Is there a way for non-VR controller support such as an xbox one controller or similar for SteamVR? Does non-VR controller support already exist? Currently whenever I try to use my controller with steamVR it doesn't detect my inputs. I'm currently using an Acer WMR headset with a 3rd party xbox one controller and the steamVR room nor the steamVR menu works.

Xbox pads are already supported, at least for games and for SteamVR input. Not sure if it works in the dashboard if that is what you want, but I think so as they can open the dashboard, IIRC 🤔 Maybe it's the 3rd party pad that causes this, does it require additional drivers or is it plug-n-play?

I don't think it requires additional drivers I don't think, I also tried it wwith a normal xbox one controller and it still didn't work in the dashboard with the gamepad add on enabled

Just tried it now, I can hold the back/change view button to launch the SteamVR dashboard, then use gaze aim and the right trigger to activate menu items etc. Do you have motion controllers active at the same time, maybe that disables it working as it removes the gaze aim?

Currently I don't own any motion controllers so no, and I don't even think SteamVR is detecting my gamepad right now

Right, for me my Xbox pad actually shows up in the SteamVR status window as a connected controller, that might be the first thing to try and make happen.

Oddly enough mine used to, but I have no idea how to get it to show up again
