Base Station
steam vr won't detect them... any ideas why?
the lights are green....
Using 1.0 base stations though.

The base stations are not going to show green in the steamvr status window until you have a tracker which is on and connected and getting hit with the lasers.

You need to continue with your setup, get your dongles and trackers going.

Must I have both of them connected for steamvr to detect it?
How do you really pair them? like through steam? (I'm using Oculus btw)

Do I need the vive setup for this?

Rift S.

you need to oculus software installed, launch that first. once you are in VR in oculus, you launch steamVR. it takes over.

you calibrate oculus in the oculus app. steamVR grabs that data for your space.

Well i launched steamvr, nothing changed. how do you exactly calibrate it? am i misunderstanding something?

the rift S has inside out tracking. It uses the built in cameras to track. there is no base station.

you first need to install the oculus application from oculus website, install, register, then after you callibrate all that, then launch oculus store app, then launch steamVR. without that, you will never ever ever even ever see a hardware detection in steamVR.

Yeah I've done that before.
I"m not new to vr itself, i've it for half a year now.

It's just that I bought 1.0 base stations and they won't appear in the steamvr devices list.
--ranXerox-- Apr 29, 2021 @ 1:04pm
it will not because it requires a headset that has bluetooth that the drivers allow it to pair to. vive, index headsets have these bluetooth. Without these, it will never pair.

Don't you need tracked device getting hit by the lasers for steamvr to show the base station's status as green?
--ranXerox-- Apr 29, 2021 @ 1:35pm
no you do not. oculus rift is is inside out tracking. Vive, index, they use outside in tracking. These 2 technologies do not mix.

Is OP trying to use vive trackers or vive wands or index controllers with his oculus?

Rift S
Using vive trackers and base stations. Controllers are just the ones that comes with the rift s itself. The problem as of rn is just the base station not being detected

Lights are green. at least 1 of them since i only connected ONE.
