Base Station 2.0 Rattling from Drop, But Still Works. Is it's Days Numbered?
I finally had time to set up my base stations that I purchased last May to use FBT. Unfortunately, one of them hit the deck (that is, my carpet) from about 8 feet up BEFORE I turned it on. So before I got a chance to link it up to my PC, it was damaged (note: maybe treat your expensive electronics a little nicer, dummy.)

It works like a charm, BUT when you shake it, it sounds like there is a broken piece inside. Since this was my FIRST TIME using FBT, I noticed that my feet were not being tracked very well (I use 3 3.0 vive pucks, two on each foot, 1 on my hips). The tracking seemed to come in and out.

My plays pace is admittedly small (bedroom) and there's quite a few pieces of furniture in there that may have been blocking one of the stations' view. I am reluctant to start moving them around again and testing more tracking positions given that fiddling with their positioning caused me to drop one already.

I should also note they're not abnormally loud when turned on, and all the lights work fine!

Has anyone had this issue? Should I consider it's days numbered? Thank you for reading.

You are lucky the lights are good and it seems to be working. Maybe never move or touch it again and it'll keep going.

@Bob Loblaw , I want to test if it was my setup that was causing my feet to disappear on my VR tracking, or the internal mechanism that broke inside my fallen base station. Do you think that would be possible in lower surfaces (temporarily) so I do not risk another fall?

You shouldn't have to move a working base super close to a tracked device. The best way to see if a base station is working is to turn on only one and face it and see if it tracks.

read danboarder's comment. ("For me it was just the plastic fresnel lens on the one spinning axis that came off and was loose inside the lighthouse. I superglued it back in place and all is well again.")
