Controllers stuck [FIXED]
Hey!
The problem you're experiencing is related to your controllers' binding settings, SteamVR has a really buggy binding system, in addition to that - you may have installed "Advanced Settings" for SteamVR, it can also cause some problems.

If you can't move your controllers in a specific game, that may be related to your SteamVR binding settings for that specific game, so you'll need to delete your custom SteamVR binding settings for that game; you can try to unset them through SteamVR itself but some people are experiencing a bug where they can't switch to the default binding settings, so they're left stuck to their custom bindings.

User-friendly fix:
Go to SteamVR's settings > Controllers > Manage Controller Bindings > Select the game > Switch Custom to Default, if it doesn't let you do that, you'll need to follow the less User-friendly fix.

Not-So-User-friendly fix:
If the User-friendly fix did not work for you, you'll need to manually remove the custom bindings for your game from 2 different locations in your computer.

Step 1 - Find your game's App ID:
You can do that by going to https://steamdb.info/ and searching for your game, write down or just remember it's App ID.

Step 2 - Location 1:
Go to your "Documents" folder, and then to the "steamvr" folder, and then finally to the "input" folder - your directory path should look like this: "C:\Users\YourUsername\Documents\steamvr\input".
Your game's binding file should contain the game's App ID or the game's name in it's filename, after you found your game's binding file - delete it.

Step 3 - Location 2:
Now go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\config\" and delete binding files containing your game's App ID (or it's name) in their filename (binding files should look somewhat like this: "steam.app.1051200_knuckles").

Step 4 - FINAL STEP:
Go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\config" and copy the "steamvr.vrsettings" file to some other place in your computer (your Desktop for example), you're creating a backup of this file because we're going to be editing it, and if something goes wrong you can just replace the edited file with the backup you create.

Now open the "steamvr.vrsettings" file (using notepad or some other text editor), look for objects (sections) with the name of your game or your game's App ID (use CTRL + F or something), there may be more than 1 object with your game's name or it's App ID, each object should look somewhat like this[gyazo.com], only target the objects that look like the ones in the picture, every object in the file should start like this:
"Game_Name_Or_APP_ID" : { "some_text": "blabla", "some_other_text": 100, }

How to properly delete an object: delete from (and including:
"Game_Name_Or_APP_ID" : {
all the way to that object's closing curly brackets at the end:
}

Now carefully delete (as explained above) every object that contains your game's name or it's App ID.

Finally, launch SteamVR, go back to SteamVR's settings > Controllers > Manage Controller Bindings > Select the game, and make sure the Active Binding Controller option is set to Default.

If something went wrong, you can restore the backup you created earlier and try again.

Dear SteamVR developers, please fix this issue.
It took me a lot of time to figure out this problem and to write this, so I hope this helps!
Kid.

when you say stuck, does it put your controller on sleep mode and you cannot use it at all?

No, the controller works completely works, except for the specific game it has the binding issue with.

I'm afraid this thread isn't going to solve your issue.

My issue was reverse, stuck in Default and couldn't switch to Custom.

This still fixed the issue though, so hell yeah! Thank you for this! :steamhappy:

:EDIT:

Well, it mostly worked. Unfortunately I think the issue is with the game that I had the issue. But this does bring back the ability to change the controls at least once, but I don't think it takes. It just defaults back to "Default" and locks out again.

Still, it's one step closer to a fix, so thank you anyhow!
