it says that I have the wrong video card.
I have a laptop with rtx 2070 and a built in intel graphics card and the main one for some reason is the intel one, and it wont let me play vr games. How do I switch the main one to the nividia graphics card?

From what I've read some laptops pipe the discreet graphics through the integrated graphics when you use an external monitor with the laptop. Not sure if this is the case nowadays, this is stuff I remember from back in the devkit days, but it wouldn't surprise me in any case.

Googling people recommending setting your default GPU to the discreet one.
  1. Open the Nvidia Control Panel
  2. Go to 3D Settings > Manage 3D Settings
  3. Switch to the Program Settings tab
  4. Find the application you want to adjust GPU for (SteamVR and/or the game?) and set the Nvidia GPU to your preferred one.
Not sure if this will actually do what you need, but worth a try?
