SteamVR is not supposed to be used without a VR headset. It's just an application for connecting VR headset to a PC, so it's almost useless without one. Where you found out the information that it would work without a VR headset? That sounds very strange. I found this post[forum.projectcarsgame.com] with a quick google search, but it's from 2018. SteamVR have changed a lot lately, so that kind of hacks might not work anymore.
Thanks for answering me, Damsteri.
Reading your post, I become aware of several things, in which I have not fallen, and in which you are very right.
I don't know where to start ... Here I go:
I suppose I cannot include links to external pages, so I will describe to you where they indicate the requirements that must be met to use the Tobii device with the Project Cars 2 game. On the official website of the Tobii enterprise, there is a section where they expose the games compatible with their product ('Games' tab). In the image corresponding to the game (in my case, Project Cars 2) I have left-click with the mouse. On the next screen they show various information, and a yellow label with the legend: "NOTE: Game must be started in Steam VR mode and helmet cam enabled for eye tracking to work.".
My fault, possibly, is that I inferred that to start the game in VR mode, I needed to use the platform's SteamVR tool. But by your words I realize that it is not the specific tool for it.
I also saw the forum that you link to me, but, as you say, nothing that they indicate can be done at present.
On YouTube there are many videos of people showing how the Tobii Eye Tracker 4C device works with the Project Cars 2 game. But in none of these videos I haven't found that they indicate the steps they took to make it work fine.
As you strongly advise me, I will contact the Tobii enterprise. And I'll also try my luck in Project Cars's discussion.
Thanks again for your help, Damsteri !!
A greeting!!
