HTC Vive Controller will not pair. Solid blue light.
Hello,

Yesterday my controller stopped tracking and a solid blue light popped up while in game. It won't pair anymore. I searched a few solutions but none worked. Here is what I tried:

Plug in in the controller and see if it pairs that way.
Pairing it back up the normal way pressing the menu and system buttons.
Reseting the controller by clicking trigger, menu, trackpad and side buttons and then updating the software.
Unpairing all devices and then installing the drivers and re-pairing everything again.

I have dropped the controller a few times along the use but I opened it up as i've owned the VIVE for sometime now so the warranty won't cover it and checked all the connectors but all of them seemed to be in place.

If anyone knows anything else I could try please give feedback.

Thanks.

I just went to updates but it seems like it didn't update anything in the last week, maybe it's just not telling me about the updates. Anyways. I tried different USB controllers but still same problem and there isn't a bluetooth update. I guess my controller is just broken. But it wouldn't make sense for it to do it so casually. I even turned the controller off and then back on while in game when it was working which fixed it for a few seconds but then went back to the blue light.

I think I found a solution!! Just go to PC settings/PC and Devices/Bluetooth and check to see if HTC BS and HTC BS FE446F (yours might differ after the BS part) and make sure both are paired. I believe this problem stems from the fact that your controller might be paired on SteamVR but NOT to your computer. It worked for me...let me know if that corrects the problem. This was a last ditch effort for me and low and behold...it worked :-)

Op's post is a year old but figured i would comment anyway to help anyone else having the issue who stumbles across this. The issue appears to be a loose connector inside the controller, if you don't know how to open a controller click the youtube link at the bottom. Once the controller is open there are two connectors at the top covered in yellow tape. I didnt remove the tape but you can if you feel like it. The pins should be slightly out of the connector all you have to do is push them back in (I did this with a small flat head screwdriver and pushed the sides back in carefully) and voila it should be fixed. Of course this will void your warranty so use this as a last resort.
