How do I close steamtours.exe completely? (not opted into beta)
So this 'steamtours.exe' is eating a lot of my system resources. I need it to stay closed. Did a search and read about to get yourself out of the SteamVR beta update.. but I've never been in it. It shows I'm opted out of all beta programs.
Any other option to keep steamtours.exe from launching?

Here's proof I'm not opted into anything;

This is SteamVR Home Beta right? It is in the live branch. You can go into the SteamVR settings and uncheck it somewhere though so it won't launch, I don't have it in front of me right now but dig through the settings from the SteamVR status window.

I don't think you understand; I'm not opted into the beta.
I'm also reading about going into SteamVR's settings (in Desktop)... what settings? I'm not seeing it. There are no videos showing how to do it.
I looked all over Steam (though my PC's desktop), and I'm not seeing any checkbox to untoggle it.

EDIT: I finally got it! To anyone else also confused, go here..

And look at the last bits of comment #4, where it says how to disable it in VR. It works!

I'm not understanding eh. SteamVR Home Beta is installed with the SteamVR non-beta tool. You don't choose to use the beta of Home, it only exists in beta form.

The setting I mentioned is from the SteamVR Status window that pops up when you start SteamVR.
  1. From the dropdown in the top left corner, choose Settings.
  2. In the General section, uncheck "Launch SteamVR Home Beta at Startup"
That's it. That will prevent steamtours.exe to launch with SteamVR.

Even if you were able to disable it in VR it's good to know about the desktop settings menu, it contains things you will not find in the VR interface unless you use additional tools.

Edit: Here's a video. I'm tired and sick so excuse my mood 😋
